Hard to put it that way lol. I generally do it by heat cycles, or laps, or how many race weekends I get out of a set. If your just starting then new tires should probably last you a couple weekends...

I started in a 15hp gokart and it took me 2 years...

I started in a 15hp gokart and it took me 2 years of competitive racing before I made the switch to shifter. Start off slow you learn to drive so much smoother and it's still fun.
