Were any mods done to the car prior to you buying it?
I remember reading that if you changed the gearing ratio in the differential that it would cause issues with the S-Mode.

Changed the oil, pulled the battery, and threw a fuel stabalizer in because I didn't drain the tank as much as I normally do for winter. Now she sits in my storage waiting for warmer weather.
