Night Photography

Hyunsoo, some great shots throughout. Boost_Lee had good critiques on your first batch. Second batch, first shot. I wonder how it would look with the left side of the street

Hyunsoo, some great shots throughout. Boost_Lee had good critiques on your first batch. Second batch, first shot. I wonder how it would look with the left side of the street cropped off (just a thought). Maybe no ppl inside the car next time as well . The even lighting on the car in the last shot makes it a winner though. Nice loose composition and an interesting but not distracting background as well. Keep up the good work!

Huck, also got some nice ones. Just need to watch your color balance. First shot, your Z looks pink. Also, maybe its just me, but I'd stay away from poles. In your last shot it looks like the car has a helluva antenna Simple things like that can go a long way to having a clean photo with no competing elements.

Nice shots!

What lens and what settings/lighting are you shooting with?

Very good use of reflected color and color in general but dont let the background overwhelm the subject.. ..try a bit of blur..move in a bit on the first and i think you will have some great shots...

Here is my opinion
First pic...color looks off and ground looks horrible..oil spots and a piece of paper very distracting..

Second pic..car is flat lit,,,need to vary it for character,,.near ground as well as back are very distracting,,.try dimming the near ground and a toning down the back..

I took some of my friends' car and my car.

Any artificial lights involved were cellphone lights
Here is what I think..of the first three..

the very first pic is the best because of the lighting on the car...It's varied and interesting and that is good..I think however, the background competes for attention and distracts from the car.. . ...i think if you use a slight blur and a bit of dimming you will make the car stand out more...

In the second picture the car is dimmer than the background..especially the door on the right,,.,that means the eye is distracted from the central object,. I think you should dim the background especially the garage door..and over on the right you have distracting lights..
Try experimenting with selective darkening to create more of a atmosphere of mystery and adventure

Third shot..sorry but the lighting in the back is ugly ..really ugly...harsh and bluish and looking like floodlights at a prison...and very distracting.,..The building also looks like a prison,,,.the post and the dirty ceiling...very distracting and not at all inviting,...Light on the car is also harsh...

I like night shots but in general IMO you should avoid distractions and use your light to create less of a spot light effect and more feeling.. which is the special charm of night photos..

Better?

Crappy photoshop due to stock height :/
My unasked for opinion,,Background..especially number two really screws you up on what are some very good angles and lighting,,,Why not try toning down the background on one by adding some color to that stark white?
Number three is overexposed..car washed out..but great use of sky...really good..foreground horrible..

Overall nice lighting and good imagination..but watch the background..

How are you shooting these shots? Tripod, correct?

Also, can you post some before photoshop shots?
