What's in your camera bag?

Hi I'm Michael and I am a professional photographer. I don't talk "shop" much around here since this is a car forum but I love photography and thought I would introduce myself as such.

I was a fashion photographer for 5 years but these days shoot mostly portraiture, wildlife and events. I am looking to get into photojournalism as I tend to want to challenge myself with new things. Question on this in a minute... first.. my bag!

My question for those of you who are photogs is, given that I want to focus a bit more attention on photojournalism, what lens/s could I stand to lose/gain? Bare in mind that I maintain a biz where I need certain lens's in the bag.

For example, I want to hold onto my 28-300mm as it's a great lens for versatility and it's really durable (I use it all the time). I really love my 100mm as I shoot quite a bit of macro wildlife stuff. The 10-22mm I don't really need but it provides some fun and interesting shots for events, etc.

I really wouldn't mind picking up a EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM but since I don't shoot sports (professionally) I really can't justify the kind of $$$ just for my kids soccer games. :p A second choice would be the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM. This seems like it would be a great addition to my bag but IDK.

Ideas?

You wouldn't use it much for photojournalism, but I'm surprised to not see a 50mm f/1.4

I thought about it. Honestly for some reason I think I would get more use out of the 35. But it was definitely something I had considered a few times.

Hey Michael,

I am not a professional, but may I suggest you will put in your bag:

1) 18-200mm
2) 28-300mm
3) 10-22mm
4) 17-85mm (optional)

The first three covers almost everything you need, do you really need 3 bodies in the bag???

My bag:

1) Tokina 11-16mm/f2.8
2) Nikon 35-70mm/f2.8
3) Nikon 80-200mm/f2.8
4) D300
5) CPL filter, Softer, Cross-Star filter
6) Sigma Speedlight
7) Nikon 17-35mm/f2.8(optional since I have the 11-16mm)

:hello:

:hello:

I ditched the 20D and 18-200 (gave that setup to my wife who is always bugging me for a camera to use :icon17: )

I'm going to hold onto the 100mm since I do a lot of fun outdoors macro with it. Other than that, yeah, I think I've got it pretty well put together I guess. Might start selling some of my lighting off... I dunno.
