I don't know a whole lot about recording sound either, but B&H has a ton of stuff to choose from when I visited there store. For my GoPro & Camcorder,

I don't know a whole lot about recording sound either, but B&H has a ton of stuff to choose from when I visited there store. For my GoPro & Camcorder, I wrap what I can with windscreen/windsock foam to reduce noise. Very cheap, so I would try that first. I have come to the conclution that you really need professional gear to capture all the engine music and not the noise. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
