You know, Im not hi-jacking at all, just trying to help you out. If you dont care much about them cats, you can likly sell them for Scrap on eBay / recycler for $200 EACH. Theres a lot of precious metals like Rhodium, Platinum, and Poladium that no-one seems to know about, and Cat recycling on eBay is a pretty big thing that has made even me a bunch of $$ from people not in the know.

You have to sell them as "SCRAP" though, or else its an EPA violation. Basically eBay will only try to pull the auction unless you state SCRAP!!

Now, if you are trying to benefit a community member by getting them back to stock or something, then by all means... sellsellsell here

You are 100% correct. They go for quite a bit of cash as "scrap"

if you can get $200 each for a cat converter... i guess that means you can make your entire living buying them brand new for 50-150 and then selling them to scrap for 200!!!

It depends on the weight of it. Some only go for 100 bucks or so. I did not realize this until I saw this thread. I wonder if a lot of the muffler shops do this.

....free bump

The cats in the Z aren't that big, I'd think they'd only fetch about $100 each on the cat scrap market. The ones that seem to go for the most are the large units off some German cars.

Not exactly. I tried this myself several years back. The aftermarket high-flow cats are more up against fair markets, while the OEM original cats are likely very strictly crafted for vehicles under EPA guidelines. If you go to your dealer, you'll likely find stock OEM cats potentially cost thousands of dollars, while aftermarket ones wil cost just a few hundred. The aftermarket ones are usually of much less quality and do not have the ammount of precious metals an OE cat would.

Some of the most valuble cats as scrap are those from a Rotary Mazda RX7 and then anything European like BMW or Mercedes. You could get over $250 fot cats off these vehicles. Aftermarket cats are worth practically nothing at a recycling place.

I'm not sure what our cats may get as for value, but I was thinking about this myself... If they are worth that much, one could almost buy new High-Flow performance cats and then pawn off the stock cats to break even.

Can you try selling one on eBay for "the team"?

Mufler shops will tell you that they cannot sell or give you their stock-pile of cats because of EPA. They know what their value is.

Here is a decent eBay link to scrap cats.
