From what i understand, this has been discontinued. I've heard that AEM still carries replacement parts for it though. I think you're gonna have a real tough time finding one.

Why not consider another manufacturer?

Do you recommend any beside stillen, I don't like that design.
I'm looking into gruppeM, but haven't found the whp and TQ gain yet.
Thx in advance

I currently have a Stillen Gen 3, but plan to change out to a Z1 with pop charger filters. What do you dislike about the Stillen?

Here is info on the Z1 intakes:
https://www.z1motorsports.com/air-in...it-p-8892.html

https://www.z1motorsports.com/air-in...es-p-9199.html

It looks like the gruppeM is a short ram. I can't find any numbers on it at all and the price was high. Short rams have issues with heat soak. In certain applications they actually decrease HP. The only short ram kit I've seen in person is the K&N Typhoon. It was on a friends Z Roadster. It looked nice and gave the car a nice growl, but I don't know if it increased HP at all.

The things I don't like about Stillen is that they don't really fasten down to anything like the NISMO, they just kind of flop around in there. Also the Nismo has that water bypass valve thing. No cutting required with the Nismo... AND it's CARB legal.

I've had the Stillen installed since 2010 and I've never had an issue with it moving around at all. What do you mean, "water bypass valve thing"? I don't know what you're referring to.

Does Canada do under the hood inspections? If not, how would they even find out this is installed on the car? I'm not even sure what would make an intake CARB legal and not legal. I was under the impression that CARB only referred to catalytic converters.

I circled in red the water bypass "valves" and circled in blue the mounting brackets to secure the tubes in place.

Here in California an aftermarket intake system needs to have a CARB legal sticker on it to be legal during the SMOG process.

I've given long hard thought to aftermarket intakes and I personally don't think they're worth the money. Other than noise they really won't gain you anything significant. The factory intakes are already really good at what they do and they will filter better as well as being more reliable.

I wonder how well the bypass valves work? Also, do they actually check under your hood during the inspection?

The mounts are a nice touch, but like I said, mine have never moved around. I'm also using the stock mounting points for my oil catch can system, so these would just get in the way of that.

Yes they usually always check under the hood and look for intake/header mods. If you get pulled over doing something stupid and the cop is a **** he will ask you to pop the hood too. I've seen a corvette get cited for nitrous. The guy just paid the ticket.

Man, that sucks. I'd be totally screwed if I lived out there.

The way around it is to find someone to just sign your SMOG papers... usually costs a bit extra... they won't even look at the car. It's really not that big of a deal. OR have out of state license plates and driver's license, and then you never have to get the car smogged. There are ways around everything out here.

I like the way the Nismo one is braced and somewhat stock looking.

I have the Injen ones, same design/brackets to secure them and most importantly CARB legal. Just be careful in the rain, not like we get much, but still... no bueno!

Don't know how to post pictures, but here's a link to a site that carries them.

https://www.z1motorsports.com/air-in...m-p-11915.html

And, since your in California I even found you someone selling them.
