These are higher-performance brake pads than the standard OEM Sport package pads. I believe--and please correct me if I'm wrong--that they have more steel in them and thus can withstand higher temperatures. If you build a 370Z on the Nissan website, you will find that these pads are listed as a $520(!) accessory.
