Default Custom Fiberglass Sub-woofer Enclosures - JL Audio 6.5"

For sale is a pair of custom, ported fiberglass sub-woofer enclosures that fit in the back shelves behind the seats of a 370Z . The enclosures are fully wired and include JL 6W3V3-4 sub-woofers. They provide a nice deep sound, as they're ported, that you wouldn't expect out of such small sub-woofers.

I traded in my 370Z and no longer need the sub-woofers but as I made the enclosures myself I didn't want to leave them with the car. The enclosures rest snugly in the rear shelf spaces without the carpeted insert in place. The base, back, and speaker ring were made out of MDF then the sides and top built up in fiberglass. Fiberglass was laid to about 3/8" thick then the surface smoothed with resin and Bondo before being primed and painted a flat black. The bottom and sides were then lined with felt and the face was sprayed with Plasti-Dip for a rubberized, textured finish.

The enclosures are being sold as a pair, including the sub-woofers, for $800. Local SoCal sale preferred but the enclosures can be shipped at buyer's expense.

I would totally love 1 of these. Let me know if you decide to split them up. I use the space behind the passenger seat for a jacket/laptop storage area so I just want the driver side one. Text me 714-231-6568

with slack in the wiring is it fairly easy to pull the passengers side out and rest it on the back of the seat for access to that additional cubby?

That shouldn't be a problem as the enclosures aren't physically attached. I don't think I'd recommend it on a regular basis though.

Still available but they'd come as is. Although I've always wanted to, I haven't ever tried my hand at carbon fiber.

Before you leave our lovely forum - how did you get the internal volume to spec? I have made a few frp enclosures very similar to this one but they were always sealed... I see you fabbed the port into the base first... it would be cool to be able to figure this out at that stage. They really look nice.

I used sand. After I matched the contour of the the cubby, roughed in the speaker location, and added the port, I poured in a volume of sand that matched the JL spec for a ported box. That's what determined the final shape of the face. Oddly enough, I didn't have to tweak it much. The shape I was planning matched pretty well. There's a picture above with the sand and a couple of dividers I was using to keep it from spilling and to compare to a sealed volume.

Free bump for a super nice custom sub enclosure.

Does anybody know if the behind seat area in the Roadster is the same as the Coupe?

i.e. will these fit a Roadster?

Price is listed and shipping is extra. I'd need payment from both buyers before shipping. PM me if interested.
