FR-S could very well end up as a cultish car like the Miata. At 2,600 lbs for the base that's pretty awesome.

Time for the 240sx to come back :)

MR24DDT!!!! The 1.6L already puts out ~190hp so I would expect at least 260hp from a 2.4L.

However, the Silvia can't come back unless they axe the Z or bump its performace. I'm hoping with them bumping the GTR to 530 and maybe 580 next year, they are planning to grow the Z. :happydance:

V6 Stang, better mpg, more power, same price. :happydance:

Yeah but the FRS comes in at 2600 lbs. I don't know how many people here have driven cars under 3,000 lbs before (probably not many), but 2,600 lbs feels A LOT different than 3600, 3300, or even 3200 lbs!!!!!

I won't bite for the Scion, but if the Subaru version tickles my fancy I will be all over it in a heartbeat.

2600lbs is a great weight for a car.

I don't think you can say they are meant to be different, 4 seats, rear drive, front engine, fun, handling, sports coupe. They look almost the exact same, have similar hp, and similar prices. I think they are in direct competition.

Obviously they are in direct competition. But apple producers and orange producers are in direct competition for your fruit purchases, but you still shouldn't compare apples and oranges. People still do though -- both are hand sized fruits, round (ish), sweet, cost close to the same, etc.

Seriously, what I meant was that they are really quite different sorts of cars leaving aside the obvious similarities

I wonder if the FR-S will even have a backseat for the US market. Is the backseat confirmed for the US? The U.S. spec Honda CR-Z had to eliminate the back seat due to safety concerns here.

This is true. My MR-2 weighed in around 2600 pounds and was an absolute blast to drive, although it was a bit overpowered, the light weight made for a fun companion on mountain roads. You didn't need huge brakes or wide expensive tires to have good handling either.

I'm counting on an Sti'd version. If they can put the 305hp torquey boxer in there I will be all over this car. It'd be hella fun.

Will not happen, they will keep it below 280HP to separate the Impreza WRX STi and this car. Though, 280HP in a sub 3,000lb car is still a good setup with plenty of room to work with.

I either see them just de-tuning it to put it around 280HP or use a different turbo setup which will end up limiting it a bit against the Impreza WRX STi.

280 would be more than enough, but with the planned moves for the STI, I don't think it will need to be seperated...
