Now that was entertaining...guess I need to sale my slow a$$ Nismo that can't keep up with a Mustang....wait they are so far behind they think there ahead!
|
Not even fair to compare the two IMO. I drive an SRT8 as well and yes it has more straight line power and much more torque, but the Z is just frigging fun to drive and has a nice bit of punch to keep the accelerator gods plenty happy. I'm happy with my recent purchase of a Nismo.
|
Well we will see. I'm heading to the drag strip tomorrow and will post up some kills of the muscle cars. I'm sure there will be plenty there to choose from.
|
son of a bitch. i leave work, ran some errands on the way home, and i missed all my hard work paying off?
oh well. i'll find me a new troll to run off of the forum today  :yum: |
I take all sides!
2015 Nissan 370Z Nismo: $41,990. 350 horsepower, 3340 pounds. 9.54 lb/hp. 2015 Ford Mustang GT: $32,925. 435 horsepower, 3705 pounds. 8.52 lb/hp. 2015 Corvette: $54,000. 460 horsepower, 3298 pounds. 7.17 lb/hp. Obviously, the Nismo is not the stripper model compared to the other two, so the prices will go up as you add packages. Personally, I wouldn't buy the Mustang because I love the feel of the Z and think she looks more sexy. I thought I would like the look of the new Mustang, but I'm not impressed. I passed by one the other day, so it's not simply going off of press images. Also, the 400 LB weight difference really matters for more than just going straight. If I could afford it, I would throw down for the 'Vette though, no question. Just let them work out the kinks. Even the Z had major issues in the first few runs. Nissan just never issued a recall, instead choosing to deal with it on a case by case basis. |
Now if ford can muster up some good looks, go back to a hydraulic steering unit, make better standard seats, pull out some of those cheap plastics and lower the price of the GT by $2,500. Maybe I might consider one.
As far as it blowing past a Nismo? Ummm what the hell people expect out of a N/A v6 in a straight line against a NA V8. I think too many car owners need to take remedial math and a physics course... All these fvckin years and some of these clowns still don't understand the Z is a PORSCHE CAYMAN COMPETITOR. Not a bytch azz mustang. Price competitive is all they are. If you want more power for your money, a kid hauler and need storage space. Get a mustang. If you want a driver-centric cockpit and seating position. If you want feedback from your steering wheel during high performance romps, if you want a 1g car, if you think 13 seconds is respectable quarter times (Why I prefer the auto) on a N/A v6. Then get a Z |
We can get them in the quarter mile. Drivers race then.

His argument style, ignorant one_sided statement and immature disposition are identical to Jungle. He is the biggest troll going. I don't even believe he leased a Z? |
Mustang? Looks like a Ford Fusion to me.
|
Uhm the Z just let him past, clearly. Why is this still a thing?

There was another thread where a few things he said pretty clearly identified him as JungleZ. I figure he's off his meds again. He admitted to being pretty seriously mentally ill before, a claim his behavior completely backs up. He'll be back with a new name soon enough. |

I couldnt hook up with a GT but the 305hp v6 one had to do. It's an a$$ whoopin. This was last night at San Antonio Raceway. |

I'm not trying to start ****. Just thought Id share because my jaw dropped when I saw Th is thread and read these times lol also. The cars in the video clearly let him pass. The quite^ is wrong. you guys are just throwing out opinions. The new mustang get weighs 600 more lbs than our cars and makes 80-90 whp, and it's gear for acceleration. But has a low ratio in 6th to get the same gas mileage we get The 5.0 beat our car around VIR over and over with no heating issues or anything. It's sad but it's true look at all the times found in car and driver. We got beat by lots of cars that cost the same price. Do I care? No lol but facts are facts Mustang GT 5.0 3:08.6 2010 camaro SS 3:09 2007 335 coupe 3:10.5 2015 Wrx Sti 3:10.5 2009 370z nismo 3:12.0 2011 Mustang v6 3:12.5 2006 350z track 3:12.5 2008 Chevy cobalt SS 3:13.0 2010 mustang gt 3:13.3 I still like my 370z over all of these cars. However I drove a boss 302 and I've wanted to sell the Z for one ever since. Made my car feel like a fat slow turd :eekdance: |
Research will also tell you they were having issues getting a clean lap on the Nismo before the wreak. Comparing MT times on MRLS between the new STI and the Nismo gives a better comparison time. It's not perfect, but if you look at the new STI time at VIR, it will be a good indicator of what the Nismo could have ran. No excuse for piss poor pads, fluid, and oil temps.

Quoting any car magazine for fair and just test is like quoting Fox for real news. Just saying, whatever car supplier pays more money to the mag, will get the better reviews. We all know how Nissan feels about the Zed.
|
im sure nissan paid them to put the gtr that low as well lol are you in denial that bad?? have you raced a 5.0 or driven one. its not slower than the z or that much worse in the turns. it is what it is sir. if you just wanna haul *** then sure buy a mustang but i still pick the Z over anything. i paid 26k for a fairly new z with everything but leather, bose, and navi. The drive feels much better than anything else in that price range. The mustang SHOULD out perform it. its a modern v8 coupe with 90 more hp. at least we can keep up with a stock one and look better doing it IMO. but saying that mustang boys are just mad because they cant keep up in the turns is pure ********. those days are over and those ******** are beating us lmao
|
BHP aint nothing but a number.:roflpuke2:
|
I was going by dynijet numbers. My brother made 87 more hp on the same dyno... :tiphat:
|
Odd. I never see mustangs at any auto cross events. I wonder why? ?
|
I'm not a Mustang fan by any means, but the GT RTR and Shelby GT350 look very promising. Both are to debut in a few weeks.
|
I'm curious to see this new Z06 in person. Thing is stupid quick and kinda cheap for what it is.
|
I would not call 80k cheap. Let's call it a good value for the money.
|
Propaganda, it is impossible.

I know this thread is probably old and didn't want revive it again, but I just have to get this off my chest after reading everyones replies.
Now who really cares if your car is faster than someone else's? This I where I would bring up other cars who are notorious for heavy engine mods and cheap at the price of the actual car. This is a 370z forum but I have to bring up the Toyota supra, just because it can beat almost any other car if modded to 1000hp. When you reach that hp amount, go up to others and tell them " I beat Ferraris and Lamborghini's". I don't think they would care, and I don't think the guy in the 6 figure car would care either. Even if you have a faster car than somone in a Ferarri or Lamborghini, I would still choose the Lamborghini. To me it all really matters on balance of quality and performance, you can't really buy a mustang just because it goes fast in a straight line, that would get boring really fast. I want to enjoy the interior of the car because that's were I will be spending most of the time driving in while seated on a hopfully comfortable chair. I don't care about speed unless I'm being paid over a million a year and doing GT races on the track. In my opinion the 370z is more classy than a raw mustang which is a headache to drive daily. That's why I drive a 370z nismo, and hope to go to a GTR nismo or not in the future. |
Quote:
You’ve obviously never driven a 2011-present mustang. it drives nice and handles great. that is why it beat the nismo around the track at vir (car and driver test). as for the interior i kinda agree. but the mustangs tech package with leather seats is a much more comfortable drive than the 370z. Ive owned both and the mustang is a better car overall. the 370z just looks better and feels a little bit tighter in the steering wheel. its said to say but the mustang beat the Z. |

We shall see if the next gen z will set the bar again. |

I didn't like the retro-inspired interior and didn't find the interior it to be of very good quality. One car was a base GT and the other was the top-tier car with leather Recaros and the upgraded stereo, etc. The higher-end model was passable but not really impressive. It more gave me an impression of half-assed nostalgia that interfered with functionality rather than a good design, or a nice place to spend a lot of time driving. Apparently the S550 is a step in the right direction in that sense. Anyway, point being, I really could not care less if the Mustang is faster around a track. It didn't strike me as a very well-put-together car although I certainly can't argue with the results, but I am not very interested in owning one. |

I thought the 370z 0-60 time was 4.8 seconds? Still pretty competitive

Bottom line is that he said its a balance between quality and performance. I'd say they're equal in quality but the mustang beats the 370z in performance. Which one would I pick? The 370. But that doesn't mean it's a better car. Performance is defined by how well the car does when it's pushed to its limits and how well it takes the abuse in my opinion. The Z should've came with a factory oil cooler for sure. iys all personal preference. But the mustang out performs the Z. Turns and straight away. Still love the Z don't get me wrong. Waiting to see the next model. |
Bottom line is that you can't say that people buy the car only to go fast in a straight line. that's just stupid. It's like me saying people only buy the Z because it handles good
|
I've never been a fan of american cars, I gotta admit the new GT with the performance package is tempting with the power numbers, IMO a pretty good looking car all considering, not as sexy as the Z. I sold my 09 Z a few years ago and currently have a 15 Forester XT, been anxiously waiting for news on the new Z and was disappointed with Subaru's new wrx. The XT is fun to drive with winter needs with AWD and more room, but I miss my Z and waiting to see if I can be lured back...

Comparing a V6 To a V8 and thn stating that the v8 is better. Really ?
Yes the mustang is faster. ( compare the v6 mustang to a Z and thn laugh at ford. this would be a fairer comparison) However the Z still stands its ground even against a V8. I believe thats a pretty good car. If there is one thing i hate about the mustang, is that they keep upgrading every year. I would never buy a mustang for that one reason. They are just simply tryhards. Most of us here know that the 370z is slower thn the v8 mustang, We still went ahead and bought the Z. IDK about america but here they are pretty much the same cost and gas is negligible so i had no reason not to buy the mustang. Infact, I had better options thn these. But i love the Z, And i am sure many here feel the same, It doesnt matter to anyone here because if they want faster, They will go Forced induction. Ask my sister, And she will tell you that the mini cooper is better thn the GTR. You will not be able to prove anything otherwise. It depends from one person to another, We chose our cars with our gut. |

The Mustang had its shortcomings when pushed to the limit as well. There are companies whose sole purpose for existing is to correct them. In my opinion, the Mustang's shortcomings (stock) are far worse than the Z's. But that's just my opinion. ;) |
