Default Newest addition to my "project" list

I picked this up today and I'm really excited about it! Tell me what you guys would do. I want some suggestions! I found a LS swap kit for 2 grand that will let me drop it right in and my accessories will all work. honestly that's what I really want to do but I know there is something to be said about keeping it oem with the jdm twin turbo motor but I'm hearing that will be above my skill level and will probably not provide me the power I'm looking for. I paid 1250$ for it and it's a 1992 300z with 153k original miles it has oem seats that are race style that were bought not that long ago and a greddy exhaust. Also it has the two rear seats. The motor has a rod knocking so that's why Iwant to swap. Also it's been sitting for 5 years so that's why it's a little dirty. But with a little tlc it will clean up really well

Depends on what your goals are for it. I think it'd be cooler with a built TT 3.0L, personally. Anyone can put an LS into anything.

Also, see you after the move.

I know but this is just a side project not really intending to make it a show piece I'd just like to get the biggest bang for my buck. And what do you mean see you after the move?

I agree with both of you about the LS swap. Technically it's the best, easiest, cheapest bang for your buck... which is why everyone does it.

On the other hand, everyone does it. And in the end you've got a Camaro-powered Z. Why not find a smashed up G35 and look into an engine swap from that?

Or if you want something radically different and you like to fabricate parts, a turbo I-4 from a Kawasaki ZX-14 would be impressive. Imagine a 250+hp 300ZX that shifts at 12,000 rpm!

See that's why I put this thread up. I would have never have thought about that. I've never swapped anything but I've been learning a lot since I bought my z and I'm ready for my first project that I plan on doing myself.... Well with some guidance from a friend. I like the g35 idea a lot.

For the price of the LS or whatever swap, you could easily put into the VG and get more power. You'd be down about 4 grand for just a stock LS swap into the car. You could spend that money on the VG and get more power than the stock LS. If you were starting with no motor at all I would say a LS. But since you already have the motor, why waste the money on a step back imo.
