Certain parts yes...some stuff no.
But it is a concept so hopefully it is refined a little but comes out strong.

Toyota is back!!!!

Enjoy!!!

Toyota

In this case I'm glad concepts never make it off the production line with the same look. To speak so highly of the Supra and how much it was thought of during the design breaks my heart a little.

That car is timeless and so iconic that seeing this with its named mentioned so much sucks to me. It isn't how I picture a modern Supra at all. Had they just released it as a ground up new sports car I may not feel as odd about it.

Setting those feelings aside I can say I'm happy to see how passionate the designers are about getting a new Toyota sports car on the market.

Ibtm.

And a repost.

Back I can barely deal with. The front... :barf:

COSMO 01-13-2014 11:23 AM

Woops!!!!

TXSpeedDemon 01-13-2014 11:26 AM

Love it. Although with that roofline, haunches and profile I can't help feeling like this is what the next RX-7 should look like.

MadChemist 01-13-2014 11:32 AM

Toyota fail. Lets put a bunch of non-functional vents in the car, increase drag just because it looks cool. Their designers need to take a few class in fluid dynamics.

Bking 01-13-2014 12:14 PM

Keep in mind it's still a concept. I'm just pleased they kept it as a FR instead of 4WD. IMO it looks pretty badass.

Finally! Toyota is coming back with a sports car :woot:

ohohoh123456 01-13-2014 12:35 PM

I'm drooling all over that steering wheel and the HUD! Looks totally like a Ferrari.

it does seem like a small car on video, so I suppose that is not going to be a super car with >6 cylinders? It seems like a 4 cylinder perhaps with a TT?

COSMO 01-13-2014 12:41 PM

Iam guessing around 100k... I don't like being able to see the fans in the front...

My guess around 60-70k

Haboob 01-13-2014 12:52 PM

Meh.

theDreamer 01-13-2014 12:56 PM

As is right now with all the gadgets and extreme styling 150k easily.
Tone it down for a street car but even with the moving wing, rumor hybrid setup, and the rest I see this as a GT-R price range, so 95k starting and up.

Jordo! 01-13-2014 12:56 PM

Perfect. Another beauty by Calty.

Anyone worried about some of the more "exotic" elements: relax. It will be toned down.

My hope is that Toyota will build and price this to compete with the Z and not try to cross swords with the GT-R.

Damn, I want that car!

I think they are putting all toyota's best technologies in there now as a concept. Will see how many makes to the production:D

That is the bigger question, production timeline.
I see this as maybe a 2016-17 product by the looks of it which could change a lot of things, from engine, transmission, emissions, etc.

jlo370z 01-13-2014 01:12 PM

leave it the way it is and take my money.

Jordo! 01-13-2014 01:22 PM

Tone it down, label it "Supra", sell to compete with the Z

Jordo! 01-13-2014 01:23 PM

On that note, is there any news on the new Z at NAIS???

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man. :-)

Maybe it's just me, but I never knew the 4th gen Supra to be a design that was fawned over as a "classic" - to my eyes it was a more muscular 5th gen Celica...a typically conservative Toyota design with a huge wing, although not unattractive. What made it legendary was its performance and mod-ability, and some rose-tinted nostalgia.

Aside from some of the obvious concept car touches, I'd buy this in a heartbeat, no matter what they call it!

Cmike2780 01-13-2014 01:34 PM

Ain't gonna happen. If it does, it'll be a GT-R competitor and likely priced that way.

kenchan 01-13-2014 01:55 PM

Frs concept looked pretty good too.... :ugh:

MacCool 01-13-2014 01:58 PM

So...this is a concept fantasy that may or may not have anything to do with reality. *Yawn*. Wake me up when it hits the dealer showroom.

If that thing is 60k I'm selling my Z for it.

Bking 01-13-2014 03:05 PM

It's most likely a competitor for the GT-R and the upcoming NSX. So like some of you have said the price should be closer to 100k, maybe even more.
