Tesla has pretty much said they will build their own, but they will put adapters to make others fit their car. Yet other cars can't use theirs.

I'm sure Elon would change his tune if other manufacturers came to him wanting to license his battery pack design for their cars. I'm willing to bet he'd be happy to become the industry standard.

Mercedes and toyota did license their product, quick charging and the use of their plugs wasn't included in the deal. Toyota paid in the five figures k per car for just the license!!!
