Infiniti Q50 S

Just got done with a test drive and I gotta hand it to 'em. It is worth every penny they are asking for it. The one I drove was the 3.7 so the similarities are all there and the paddle shifters are identical to the 7AT. It was like being home but only in a more refined daily driver aspect. The interior was fantastic, the seats were to die for and I could sit completely straight up without my head smacking the headliner (something that is becoming very tiresome in the Z). The nannies weren't happy with me through the corners but being a test drive I wasn't going to turn them off. But it never cut power. Just kept the wheels in check. Suspension was smooth and very compliant. Was very predictable and good road feel which was unexpected. It really liked to haul and was incredibly nice at the higher speeds. The interior seems small but is roomy as can be. The controls are in the perfect spots.I just can't say enough good things about it.

I did not drive the hybrid bit 360 horse and better mileage is something to write home about. I will be driving one when I get back to the east coast. If all goes well I'm going to purchase one.

don't know if anyone else has gotten into one yet but I highly recommend it. Tell me what you think.

Sounds awesome. Your review is in the family of what i was expecting. The value factor of intfiniti quality is highly understated in the automotive world. Would you consider the interior to be a huge leap forward from the G series or a minor leap?

I want to get my test drive in but that won't happen for a while. No time. My life has received another majorcomplication, where i won't have the time for at least 3 months to do things like test drives.

Just traded my 2011 370z 6mt w/ Sports Package for a Q50 Hybrid/Sport. I definitely made the right decision, this car is amazing!!!

I never bothered with the G because I always felt the interiors to be very plastic-like and cheap. I sat in one for two minutes and got right back out and never thought of it again. That said, the Q blew me away. And when I say they made the seats better, I mean I could take this thing on a 20 hour road trip without fear of fatigue. They feel completely different and are designed to keep your spine straight and natural. The headrests are in a position that are highly effective and even useful. And the materials used are leaps and bounds better.

As much as I love throwing the Z around, I'm fully intending on trading her in very soon. It's rare I find a car that I feels completely perfect. The Q is it. Even despite my hatred for touch screen instruments in cars.

Wow, I didn't expect the Q to be this good. I think I'll check out the dealership. Great review OP.

Thats the "elitist" pro-germaphile BS that chatters through the forum and in car society that always has people underrating Infiniti and swaying peoples expectations/opinions.

Infiniti was working hard on this car. My expectations for the Q50/60 are high...

This Z, in 2016, won't disappoint either.

^^^This is so true! They really build great cars yet people always underrate them compared to BMW & Lexus.

@ OP...can you post pics of the particular model you drove?
Interested. Ty! :tiphat:

The optional Q50S rims look sick... a $1900 option.

Hadn't seen the wheels before. Gotta say that would really helped.

I looked at the Q50 this weekend at my local dealer. The roofline is a little high for my tastes (very tall side glass to my eye), but that is just my opinion. Otherwise, the car is solid. The lines are great (need to see it in person because pictures don't do justice with this car).

I wouldn't mind trying one out. Don't know that I would ditch my Z for it though. I have the benefit of being short so I don't worry about interior space as much :)

UNKNOWN_370 08-19-2013 09:07 AM

I don't think this is the type of car you replace your Z with unless you absolutely need the space and you truly want the added luxury. But it would be something i would add to the garage as a family/DD.

I know Infiniti makes great vehicles, I just wasn't expecting a brand new model to be this good. Of course, I'll reserve my judgment until I get behind the wheel of one.

They are just big names. I'm sure MT and C&D are paid extra to give them high-praise. They told of the BMW 1 series as being track worthy. I drove one. Thought I was going to roll it around the first s-curve. It was pathetic.

They also have a factory-option blacked-out grille. I will be one of those getting this option. ;)

You're lucky you're short. I'd certainly keep my Z otherwise.

I hate paying double the property tax so I'm a one-car guy right now.

Absolutely. And if anyone noticed my initial "review", it wasn't really a review. It was simply a very subjective take on a brand new car to the market that was enough to impress me even after the many new cars I've test driven lately. I don't agree with most of the reviews in the mags and I think they are mostly crap so I would expect anyone to think the same about any attempt I would have to give a real review as well. So why bother? Go drive one and see for yourself!

^^ That looks great. I can't wait to see the coupe .

The Q50 is gangsta. I love the Godzilla eye headlights.
