That's a super solid deal. I'd rather have that than a 320i all day long. PLENTY of torque for the morning commute.

Yea twin turbo 3 liter 6 with 300 crank? Yawn. Geezuz a 2008 G35 has more power.

I went to an auto show a few weeks ago and sat in a Q60 and i was overwhelmingly pleased. it was probably my favorite sub $60k vehicle there, it seemed well worth its price. The interior quality was fantastic and everything in the car seemed in place and well integrated. All i have to do now is drive one :driving:

Dude you have no conceptual measurement of how much FI power that 300Hp engine is. Have you ever been in a 300HP 335I????

Like seriously dude.A 340I is 320HP and starts cat $48k. You're not looking at this in the current market

Yes, and yes. I almost bought a 2012 335I (shopping for my wifes Volvo). I REALLY wanted to like it. Maybe it was the car but it was actually quite underwhelming. I had my 370 at the time and it felt NO where near as punchy as it. Ive read and heard all the accolades about the Legendary N54 Twin Scroll 335. I WANTED to love it. It sucked. Paddles sucked, seats sucked. Im trying to think of anything I liked about it. Passed up a G37 too. Wanted to love that too for obvious reasons. Felt too "tight" driving style, for my wife. Not as harsh as the BMW but close and felt even slower than the BMW, and the interior...for the money...meh. So, Im not sure what i should be impressed about a brand new Q in 2017 with a twin turbo, 300HP at crank? My 300HP twin turbo Z32 was fun though. Im sure its solid and reliable, etc. Impressive....why?

The horsepower isn't the figure... it's the torque that's peaked from 1600-5200 RPM. And it's already well established that the VR30DDTT is significantly underrated from the factory. They've dyned the 300hp version of the current Q50 with 290 at the wheels on California gas.

You'll be underwhelmed. The car just has zero edge and I test drove the RS with 400hp. The steering is completely devoid of feel, there's no rear LSD and she's heavy. It just didn't do anything exciting. The exhaust note is, well there is none. Damping is decent actually. It's quiet. It doesn't feel like it has 400hp. It was a pretty meh moment. Maybe I need to go back and try again.

I do like the interior and the exterior is much more buttoned up and tidy in person than the current car.

Still, if it came down to going forced induction on my current ride, I'd probably opt for the Q60RS instead, add a few choice components and hope there are better tuning solutions on the horizon than what we currently have. Or maybe wait and see if they release a higher spec version.

Did you drive a DAS or non-DAS car?

That puts it at 333 HP. Kool. Most FI cars of quality are underrated.

I was told it was e non-DAS car as I didn't like the necessary options, or the pricing, to get the DAS. So I wanted to drive the non-DAS version to see if it would be livable. And it's livable but it doesn't have the tactile fell of the current car by any stretch of the imagination.

I test drove an Audi S3 which was an impressive car but it too had zero steering feel.

Edit: One thing I left out is that it actually put the power down better, with less wheel spin, than my current car with Pilot Super Sports, pretty much the same size tire in the rear. Still not perfect but worth noting.

Da electronic steering works well from a torque steer prevention on my GTI.
But da rest.. pretty numb

I've had the opportunity to wind out a 335I and 135is.... the engine responsiveness to me is perfect. There's a hint of lag but n/a linear. It gets good power. I'm not sure how u were underwhelmed unless your drive style is underwhelming? That said. I think the VR30 is going to be an excellent tuner engine.... but to each his own.

You may be correct. I THINK that was my first BMW 3 series drive in ten years minimum. Maybe the car had issues? Maybe my expectations were sky high? Though shortly after i did drive the snot out of my neighbors e92 V8 M3 at Sebring. 6mt too, fun as hell. Completely different than the 335 at any speed or RPM. I know they are VERY different but I expected a bit of 335 in the E92, but no, just smiles all around with the M and frowns with the 335.
