Swing and a miss :stirthepot:

The price points are so vastly different that I am not faulting Nissan: they brought a very specific car to market segment devoid of competition, though not a large market segment.

The F and the P cars are priced similarly (though I would expect the Jag to come out 10-15% less expensive, in the ball park)

Yeah, but the new F-Type looks fantastic. I'm looking forward to Top Gear's review, I saw a clip of it in the intro. If you can afford it, then speed isn't necessarily what you care about, nor is reliability for that matter.

Top Gear will always give a more favorable review to a Brit car than it usually deserves.

Not always, they STILL hate the McLaren, even in season 20, they say its MUCH better, but still prefer the 458

And the Z beat the Cayman in performance, but lost in overall scores. I know one thing, the Z will be ridiculously cheaper to maintain, and the value of the Jaguar will drop off a cliff when it is driven off the lot.

<ninja edit> OK. Make that two things.

Funny because the last one he owned was like 25-30 years ago. Only James owns one, and he's hinted many times that he will be buying the 458

And honestly, they make fun of Great Shittish cars ALLLLLLLL the time, they didn't like the last Jag because it was too golf club-ish, And they really do crap crap about Lotus, Range Rovers and almost everything else's reliability

Owned one, yes, but loves them? Always. The man loves Ferrari. Who doesn't, though.

I checked it out last night after I saw an ad on the golf channel. It's a beautiful car. The engineering, as far as the transmission knowing when to downshift in a curve, looks really cool. Too much $$ for me. If I had the cash I'd definitely be taking a look. It's not always about horsepower. They do have a V8 with over 400hp. That's more than enough for just about anyone. Even with the 4000 lb.+ weight.

If you think a Jag F-Type looks anything like a 370Z, you're delusional.

I am disappointed by the size of the f. When I heard ramblings that this was going into production, I'd hoped it would be smaller, a proper brit roadster. I parked next to one a few weeks ago, and it dwarfed my Corvette. It is massive.

I also have a personal bias against jags because they don't offer a manual option and are very expensive, but their design is beautiful

Even wth a nice interior that doesn't add up to 30k extra

To you. This isn't a z competitor. It's for someone looking at 911s.
