BMW seems to be searching for an answer much the way Merc is. American cars are kicking *** for performance and Japanese cars are kicking *** for reliability and all are raising the bar. $40K for 3 series with heated seats isn't getting it done in North America, for 300 hp you're talking $45-50k to start.
Don't get me wrong, if you have the cash a used 335 with N54 engine can take you really far, but the rest of the lineup seems over priced. I love the style though.
