370Z replacement...suggestions?

My subaru was fine (and I think most are)...it's more of a sound/feel issue with them.

The WRX runs closer to 25K (usually under), so it gets away with it in my mind...


At the end of the day, it's very expensive to build cars in Japan, and frankly Japan itself is poorly situated for the JIT manufacturing they love.

There's a reason Honda/Nissan/etc are building plants in the US--costs are much lower when you are located close to your supply chain and don't have to ship your product across the ocean. Because of this you'll either see a premium on Japan-built cars (like with the S2000), or you'll see corners cut somewhere.

Anyway, fool me once...not again.

Rotors were turned, dealership admitted they were warped and that the pads showed no signs of abuse. Car brakes smoothly again, for now. I will invest in good rotors and pads for the next time this happens.

At least my car has some damn nice tires, now. I love the PSS!

Look, sooner or later they are going to run out of rotor. I was informed I have .006" more to work with before it is out of spec. I HIGHLY doubt they are going to give me a free set of rotors.

Maybe a 370Z is some sort of life achievement or some other special thing for you, but for me, it's just another car (For me, my Z06 was the Chimera, I caught it, and moved on in a year). That doesn't mean, however, that I want to feel brake judder every time I enter a corner or slow to a stop.

What it does mean is that I'm not going to just randomly fork over $$$ for crap for the car that it shouldn't NEED, when I can go to the dealership and have them turn the rotors under warranty because they acknowledge that their product doesn't meet minimal expectations.

I'm sorry if it frustrates you, but it frustrates me a helluva lot more, I'm betting.

All I ever asked was that it did what it was billed to. That is what I will continue to expect from it, and when it makes my life difficult by often requiring service, I will make its creator (Nissan) have a hard day as well, because I will get as much of this done under warranty via honey and vinegar (I prefer honey, although I do bitch a plenty, I admit, I treat the people I deal with with respect. It's not the service manager/writer's fault that the car has crap parts from Nissan. Nissan is who takes the hit, as they bill for warranty time. Not me, but SOMEONE has to pay, that someone, as I understand, is Nissan. Enough guys like me who take their cars to work every day do this, and Nissan sucks it up and you see slotted rotors on the next Z-car kindof like you got an Oil-cooler because of the other group of people...).
