these times mean nothing. There is nothing consistant at all in this. Just lap times they picked up from here and there people driving.

Do they use the magazine writers to drive them or do they hire a pro?

no wonder

MT usually has Randy Pobst drive the cars for their comparisons.

The only lap times that really matter are the ones on the Top Gear test track...........because they are surrounded by an hour of entertaining programming and some witty Brits :rofl2:

I'd rather watch Best Motoring International with K. Tsuchiya testing cars on Tsukuba

When I first bought my Z, it was mostly for looks. Now i care mostly about performance. If I were to get another car in that price range it would definitely not be a Z. I'd try to get a used C6 Z06 for that much.

That is exactly the way I would go.

I would love to jump up to a C7 in the future. Just not in the cards right now. Optioned the way I want, you're looking at $70k. Used ones will be a steal in 3-4 years or so.

I think the C7 is going to hold it's value way more than any other vette in history. Expect the config you want to hold it's value while base models will be thousands cheaper in the used market. You're just gonna have to save and bite the bullet and buy bruh... It'll be worth it.

Yeah I'm gonna try to buy a used one that's 1-2 years old. If that doesn't work I can get a C6 Z06 or the new mustang/camaro/Z.

I think they'll make so many like always I'll be able to pick one up at a good price.

Everyone has a Corvette

UNKNOWN_370 05-09-2013 02:55 PM

Yeah but they dont sell alot annually. The illusion is, the generations have run nearly a decade long which makes it look like there's a lot. But i don't see C6's all the time. But see C4,C5 and C6 all the time when combined. C7 is going to take a while. I'm sure they will be controlling numbers even more now though. 3 reasons.

1. Chassis is now all aluminum. Costs more to build than previous vettes
2. Extensive use of carbon fiber. You normally fdont see that much CF till you hit $115,000
3. Stock interior is waaaaaayyyy more upscale. Much less cheap components means the budget must be running tighter.

They sold 37000 C6 Corvettes in 2005 when they came out, in 2012 they only sold 11000. C5 was pretty steady, they sold over 30000 every year except for 2002 (25000). C4 sold over 50000 units in it's first year.

Given the current pricing I don't think they will ever reach those numbers again, but the car also gives a lot more too. It is more of a niche market car now than it ever was.

cossie1600 05-09-2013 07:12 PM

They still sell more than 370z
