GTR Gets Airborne then Crashes! Video!

On a GTR cruise, a driver in a GTR decides to show off a bit, gets airborne and crashes. Definitely not a smart driver testing unfamiliar roads, anyways the video speaks for itself.

I was on this cruise, i didn't see the crash but came up on it and watched them pull it out of the grass. Crazy as hell

NitrousZ34 10-02-2012 03:41 AM

I thought that the driver was going to crash at first. Did not expect that other GTR to come out of no where

Kingbaby 10-02-2012 04:03 AM

One upper

Idiot....only go balls out on roads you know, the safest bet...now he's immortalized as an idiot douchebag!

DLo 10-02-2012 07:57 AM

^ Only go balls out on a track.

b1adesofcha0s 10-02-2012 08:05 AM

I was also on this cruise, but up ahead of those guys. Didn't find out about this until later though. What a retard :shakes head:

tibal 10-02-2012 08:23 AM

eeekkkk glad to see it didn't end badly, and no other cars were coming the opposing direction

b1adesofcha0s 10-02-2012 08:24 AM

I think he wrecked his front and rear diffusers, front bumper, oil cooler, and one other thing.

Z_ealot 10-02-2012 08:25 AM

having a hard time figuring out who's the bigger douche, the guy who was driving stupidly or the guy who refused to stop to check on someone who possibly has life threatening injuries. serious lack of empathy on the cameramans part.

KSFastah 10-02-2012 08:30 AM

So...um....I guess we just saw a lot of ambition...and not much judgement.

It's sad to see such an epic car cratered in such a stupid way.

Haboob 10-02-2012 08:33 AM

Who the hell doesn't stop for something like this? Especially someone they're on a cruise with? Pretty sure that's a crime in itself, at least it is out here in AZ.

Stupid driving, but it happens, but to not stop and see if everyone is alright is downright retarded.

b1adesofcha0s 10-02-2012 08:35 AM

Well the guy in the video didn't stop, but everyone behind him did stop to help out the driver.

I know, but the one who saw it happened (the first one; and you could say instigated it maybe?) didn't stop, which is just dumb to me.

Oh well. Was still spectacular.

lol And the Z parked in front of a hydrant. :bowrofl:

All sorts of wrong on this day!

LakeShow 10-02-2012 08:59 AM

This guy wound up to be very lucky as there were no cars anywhere in his path where he was traveling at about 100mph. There could've been a car or truck coming up that little hill/bump where he lost control and easily could've been killed or killed others dead on because he was also in the opposite lane. Very dangerous maneuver and very stupid I might add. Hopefully he learned a lesson, he got lucky and was spared. Something like that at that speed could've ended up much worse.

Haboob 10-02-2012 09:01 AM

Are those roundabouts not raised in the middle? The few we have are and as soon as I saw him fly into it, all I could think about was it hitting a 4" curb and just rolling or something.

Luckily it stayed stuck to the ground (for the most part).

Speed an obvious factor here. Was it the back end going into the air and twisting the car or did driver input cause the slide?

It was raised in the middle, but it looks like there was a sidewalk around that grassy part in the middle. The car only went over the low sidewalk and not the raised part in the middle.

Actually it was the whole car going into the air and him slamming on the brake while in mid-air.

stupid driver. even more stupid cameraman who is a douche for not stopping. i could sort of understand if it was a stranger, but in the same cruise? that's just cold.

with that being said

IS THAT A BLACK R32!?!?!?!? DO WANT.

:iagree: The least he coulda done was stopped and asked, "U ok you stupid muthaf&%a?". lol.:bowrofl::bowrofl:
He could of avoided that by drifting into it but I'm sure he was freaked out by the hop. Doesn't look like he was expecting it and probably didn't know the road at all to fix his mistake... This is why if you're going to be dumb enough to speed to that level. Know the road you're on like the back of your hand.

I feel bad for the car. lol.:ugh2:

Hey! There was no stupidity from me in this cruise! :p

Got distracted at work and decided to make this with MS paint. This was my first thought when I saw the video :icon17:

I do not understand why this guy is being bashed so harshly and not commended for his efforts. He was clearly showing all the other GT-R owners on the cruise what to NOT do with their cars. And for this we salute you :tiphat: Luke Duke on commandeering a GT-R and sailing through the air oh so gracefully...unfortunately the landing was something left to be desired.

Bryan 10-02-2012 12:01 PM

I think that guy that shot the video did end up stopping. Here's the video, it doesn't show much though just him stopping

Yeah, he said he wasn't going to stop but he did.

Everyone here is so quick to blame the driver. Did it ever occur to any of you that maybe, just maybe, gravity went offline for just a sec? ......I thought not. :disgust:

I didn't blame him and I feel the lead car shares some of the blame. Although in reality you aren't supposed to out drive your skill set and know the road. It appears GT-R #2 out drove his skill set and obviously didn't know the road. If he didn't hit the brakes he could possibly of saved it, but he freaks seeing he is quickly running out of real estate with the roundabout coming up and hits the brakes to try and slow down and induces a skid. All in all it could of been worse if there was oncoming traffic entering that roundabout. That is at least my observation with the information and video provided. Only he knows what he was thinking of course.

I still want to know why the lead car leap frogs the truck when there is a number of vehicles following him on a 60 mile cruise. Surely the road opens up to at least four lanes early on in this cruise and is not all two lane back roads in which case good luck keeping a group together when leap frogging traffic the whole way.

I think you should definitely blame him. It's one thing for the first car (which was not leading the cruise) to pass the truck, but completely different for the 2nd guy to try and pass both of them while this happens and try to go around the roundabout in the opposite direction.

The road didn't really open up much ahead, it was mostly 1 lane roads on the route.

RandyD 10-02-2012 01:48 PM

the fun of cruizing this area is the one lane scenic roads with little or no traffic...

that guy clearly went too fast - even for a spirited run. there must be more backstory to the behavior - like some rivalry or taunting by the camera car - usually there is no passing of other cars in the cruize lineup.

Well with knowing that then the blame is fully on the one who wrecked. Although I do not think his intentions were to go around the roundabout in the wrong direction. He never regained control of his vehicle until he was already committed to going left through the roundabout.

With all that horsepower in tow it's just a matter of time before one person in a large group loses all self control and gets the asshat of the day award. Nature of the beast.
