Yeah I looked the kit over real good at the showroom.

Steve, I'm reading your sig for mods, but I don't see the susp mods...maybe I'm blind. What you running now then? What springs?

5.0 ftw!!!!!

For suspension I am running: Steeda Sport springs Steeda HD upper strut mounts w/ GT500 isolators Koni Yellows Fays2 Watts Link 275/35 Michelin Pilot Super Sports all around Speaking of the Super Sports, I am so impressed with them I think they will be my choice for the S2000 over the Star Specs. While the Star Specs might be faster in the dry the PSS ride smoother and should last longer. And if it has to be driven in rain the wet performance is superior. |
are u going to put an ecu chip in your 50?
|
I am running a tune.

so Steve, questions for you. Is it worth it for me to upgrade my rear sway bar? Did you notice a big difference going to 275s around? Yeah I heard good things about Super Sports... I'm still leaning towards keeping my oem pzeros for now tho. Car only has 900 miles on her! |
Damnit gf just called and said the S2K won't start. Sounds like a dead battery.

275s... generally a lot more grip. Super Sports. They are Super Awesome but if the PZeros are still fresh, keep them. They are good tires. The single best suspension mod you can make on the 5.0 is the shocks. The car is underdamped and needs something better. Koni Yellows are awesome but if you don't want/need adjustability the non-adjustable STR.T "orange" line is still a vast improvement over stock. |
S2K is back up and running. I needed a laugh. :icon17:

While I could easily use a filter recharge kit to clean the dirtied filter and re-use it, I feel like this is a waste of my time. Instead, I buy a new filter about every 6 months. :icon17:

*le sigh*
My aftermarket shift knob (acrylic) cracked. Time to drop $150 on a TWM. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-A...320_165146.jpg |

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-r...321_173233.jpg Front plate bracket worked its way loose. I noticed it in the morning and thought "i'll fix it later." Driving home from work... nasty grinding sound. Ran over my front plate. :bowrofl: $10 to order a replacement. I've since hammered it out and wrapped it up so I can put it on the dash for the time being. |
So I have decided and my wife has approved funding. I'm trading my Z this summer for a '13 GT500

Congrats dude. Gonna be sick.

Yeah I can't wait. They don't get delivered until summer and I fully expect a buying frenzy, so I'll get it late summer or early fall after stock builds up.
I am excite and cant wait. |

was at the dealer looking at 16' box trucks, for work, was their with the mustang, they tried to get me to look at a 2012 shelby in the showroom, told them id be more interested in the 2013, they said they only gonna be getting one this summer, so i think their wont be a lot of choosing at first when the car hits the showroom this summer.

https://docs.google.com/file/preview...lJbzFZUQ&pli=1 https://docs.google.com/file/preview...lJbzFZUQ&pli=1 My goal was to keep the price at $60k So the car with options I want comes to $57232 invoice and $62825 MSRP. Spilt the deference an you are at my $60k price point. Since I'm in the military and will be moving out of texas most states won't require me to pay sales tax, so I can defer Texas Sales tax on it until I return to Texas to register it. |
Good luck with that pricing. I know USAA deals don't work on some models. The GT500 might be one of them.
Anyways, back to my cars. ;) I went to the track yesterday for a private rental. It was fun but frustrating at the same time. Fun because, well, driving and watching fast cars is fun, but frustrating because I wasn't going to be doing anything special with street tires and warm temperatures. We were at 75-85 degrees for the day with moderate humidity. DA was around 1400-1500 feet. Best run was a 12.56 @ 113 on a less than stellar 1.98 60'. My best 60' of the day was a 1.93. It was tough. I still spin a lot. Not as much off the line anymore but on the 1-2 the car spins pretty hard and I can still get squirrely on the 2-3 shift. I felt like if I was able to put together the "perfect" run yesterday, it would have been somewhere in the 12.45x range. Additionally, with my shorter 275/35 tires I feel like I'm running out of 4th gear right at the end of the track, even with the limiter at 7,300 RPM. I think I might need to look at swapping my 3.73 gear out for a 3.55 or 3.31 if I really want to go after these times seriously. The 3.73 overpowers any street tire and puts you in an awkward spot at the top-end. More to think about... more to waste $$$ on in the name of speed, I suppose. Regardless, this was a new personal best and in more ideal conditions it would have been a low 12 second pass at 114-115. The good news is I was very consistent, with all of my runs save for the first couple falling within the 12.56-12.61 envelope. I will be back to the track in the fall with a set of ET Streets. Since it will be cooler I'll probably do a pass or two on the street tires just to compare, then I'll switch over to the DRs and we'll be talking easy 11s. There were some nice cars there, including a 9 second GT-R. And one of the Mercedes guys set the new world record for an E55 AMG, around 10.51 @ 132. Pretty awesome considering his race weight was 4,500 lbs or more. He's going to be super quick in the fall! Met some cool new people outside of the normal folks that show up for these private rentals. There was a group of diplomat kids that showed up in two e92 M3s and a Porsche 911 Turbo S. To my surprise they were very nice guys... further proof that you should not pass judgement on people until you meet them :). The e92s were on street tires, both had tune + exhaust, and were running mid 12s at anywhere from 110-114. Those DCTs shift quick and the exhausts sound wild. The Turbo S was somewhere in the 11s (or maybe 10s) at ~130 I believe. |
Holly crap what a novel.

That E55 is impressive for the weight. |
Yeah, the car is a beast. The guy trailered it in and had 200 lbs of ice and a few cool air blowers to keep it as cool as possible.

Thats pretty sweet, m4a1.
My buddy has an 11 GT. Only option is the 3.73 rear. Stock puny brakes, wheels, tires. His best stock pass was 12.87 @ 112.87. |
