Toyota 86: Prices in Japan

Toyota 86 Sports Car Priced From $25,600 in Japan

I think it's too expensive for the lack of features & amount of horsepower. Not good value, it seems.

delusional 01-25-2012 12:05 PM

Yeah a bit too pricey for the features and power it comes with. The base one doesn't even have a/c or painted bumpers :ugh2:

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 12:10 PM

it may be cheaper here. the Z and GTR are cheaper here than almost anywhere else in the world...

Rui Z 01-25-2012 01:14 PM

^Yup so if anything, we now know that it will be sold for less than $25K.

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 01:29 PM

imo if the "base" model isn't $21-22k they have lost their minds. if they can squeak it in for $19,999 they will have a serious hit on their hands. dunno tho...

MC 01-25-2012 02:24 PM

i honestly dont think it will be cheaper here

m4a1mustang 01-25-2012 02:26 PM

$38k for the GT Limited trim :icon14:

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 02:28 PM

not sure if serious^

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 02:31 PM

they're ****ed

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 02:32 PM

does that mean the inevitable turbo/FI version will be $40k+ :wtf:

somatic 01-25-2012 02:38 PM

It'll actually be based around $24000. Sold as the scion frs here in the states, it'll have pwr windows and locks, USB, Bluetooth, alloys, etc

As a scion, there will be no "trim levels"

:rofl2:

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 07:44 PM

so it's a 4 cyl 200hp small car with an almost step for step mustang matching price structure... good idea guys

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 07:45 PM

guess that means the track package will be in the $45k range (think Boss 302) and the F/I version will be $60k-ish

IMWEZL 01-25-2012 07:56 PM

There will still be guys that buy one. Look at the VW R32 and the upcoming R. I'm not bashing VW but their prices new are way up there. Which is why I picked up a used 07 GTI for $10K.

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 08:02 PM

yea but the R32 doesn't feel or drive like a GTI or lower golf. it feels like a completely different car. not to mention the rear suspension is completely different.

So does that mean in the US, I basically have a choice of color and transmission and that's it? If you go to build one on the Scion website, that's all you can do.

Still no where near worth what it costs, though. :bowrofl:

HKYStormFront 01-25-2012 09:26 PM

true^ but it is a lot more "audi"-ish both in how it drives and it's interior. they are a great buy used and one of the only VW's i would ever own (the R32 that is)

shaun66 01-25-2012 10:59 PM

Mann I saw the badass concept version at the Houston Auto Show today, what a let down in the production model lol.

eh, been there done that. :p

Cell 01-26-2012 12:30 AM

Over priced... I would rather buy a 5.0 over this for that price.

somatic 01-26-2012 07:06 AM

It's still cheaper than the 5.0

Yep. You can add spoiler Nav strut bars etc, but theyll usually show up at the dealer with carpet mats and pwr options

Maybe. I just saw on one of the forums yesterday that some guy paid a bit over $25.5k for a base model 5.0 with the automatic transmission option.

There are a bunch of cars that are going to overlap in price with the BRZ/FRS methinks.

Idk but the frs will sell regardless. I've already got 3 deposits

m4a1mustang 01-26-2012 08:25 AM

No doubt it will.

Not what I wanted to hear...those stock wheels are fugly (and too small). Might have to wait for the Subaru version.

subaru comes with the same wheels

i didnt believe this but its true the FRS and BRZ come stock with the same tires from the prius...

i think i also read where the BRZ comes with NAV and a few other interior things like that and might be priced a little more than the scion
