haitech 12-01-2011 02:04 AM

That's what I'm talking about. Honda ain't slowing down

HenryLee 12-01-2011 02:33 AM

^ They were slowing down for a while in the sport car department. Honda was just sitting on their high hat just selling high volume civics and accords.

There wasnt anything in the honda or acura lineup that I would consider right now. Their accords, civics, TLs, TSXs all look like crap. They lost the s2k and nsx a while back. Its about time honda does some RD and produce some sportier cars.

Agreed

m4a1mustang 12-01-2011 07:19 AM

Sounds like it might be some sort of EV or hybrid.

MC 12-01-2011 01:53 PM

New Acura NSX will be hybrid, look like Tony Stark's car from Avengers

m4a1mustang 12-01-2011 01:54 PM

They ruined it by making it look like an Acura.

kenchan 12-01-2011 05:51 PM

they should make it look like a NISMO mustang? :icon17:

No that is a one-off special edition NISMO made in Japan. :p

Lemers 12-01-2011 06:17 PM

Honda has had working concepts before for an NSX replacement. I won't be too concerned about this car until production starts.

stevenlucksek 12-02-2011 12:26 AM

@mc

Thanks for the information of the new NSX.

Is the information from Jalopnik reliable?

Thanks

This is the main reason I went with the Z. Thanks Honda for pushing me in the right direction. :driving:

Let's not talk about their civics. Honda fell off on that department. :rofl2:

stevenlucksek 12-02-2011 01:33 AM

I have research the information on Jalopnik.. The comments with the sketch, I think it was taken from the concept of 2014 Corvette (correct me if im wrong). But then it was taken from Jalopnik that have the info written by Ray Wert who is the chief editor of Jalopnik which is reliable but then in the official page from google plus, it shows that he did not post any information about Acura but the latest info about the information that he post last is yesterday. I am wondering whether he have not updated yet or the info is not true?

Thanks

_ace_ 12-02-2011 10:00 PM

I think the HSV-010 GT is beautiful, but the Avengers Acura just doesn't do anything for me. An NA V10 would help it, but if they go with a smaller engine hybrid with in-wheel motors, that might work ok but it certainly isn't making me salivate.

I guess we'll see what they come up with after another 5 years or so...

:iagree: x100, I would also say the same thing about a new Toyota Supra.

The Honda NSX supercar is set to return as a 400bhp four-wheel-drive hybrid. Honda has already confirmed that a new NSX will be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January, and now we have more information on the Japanese Audi R8 rival.

We’ve already seen spy shots of a concept car on the set of thenew Avengers movie, and we’ve since had confirmation that the Detroit show car will be heavily based on that model. Our images show a coupe, but the final production version will also be offered as a roadster.

The concept will be shown as an Acura – the firm’sluxuryNorth American arm – but it will be badged as a Honda when it arrives in the UK, and retain its forebear’s NSX name. Power will come from a 3.5-litre V6 driving one axle and a pair of in-wheel electric motors to turn the other. This will give the NSX four-wheel-drive traction and 400bhp-plus. Performance will be impressive, with 0-62mph taking under five seconds.

honda's finest to be a 3.5 V6? and 400bhp? what are they thinking.. latest GTR is good for 530hp out of the box and runs 3.8ltr twin turbo.

Honda needs to get its head out of its xxx and wake up to reality...

and the styling???? most are gonna call it an R8 copy..

It's Honda... what do you expect? They've always been underpowered and they have never really been unique in their styling. The original NSX was really the only car that ever stood out.

C'mon, the S2000 was far from underpowered for what it was. It was just as fast as the mustang GT's of its time with their V8's and squishy suspensions. Beat the boxter, too, IIRC. Was nearly as fast as the Rev-up 350Z with a V6.

FWIW, S2000 is exempt from my Honda bashing. :D

I see an Acura TSX because of the grill. Or a Cadillac CTS-V.

Then I see a Z06 because of the Spyder rims. (the car actually has a LOT of Z06 in it I think. Front and rear fenders as well as the sides)

Oh wait...I'm just picking out ONE THING. Kindof like you all have done with the only thing similar--front fascia. Even that and the hood are way different. Sorry, I'm just not seeing R8.

Roof-line.
Front and rear fenders.
Sides.
Rear deck-lid orientation.
Rake.

I see a TON of differences.

So...what are you bashing? The NSX is STILL an awesome car, about like a C5 with better feel and much better interior/driver orientation.
The S2000 was great/is great.

What other sports car has Honda made recently? Are you trying to say a civic is under-powered? That their family-car/econo-car isn't fast? :ugh2:

m4a1mustang 01-02-2012 10:35 AM

I don't really get what you are missing. A guy was saying the car was underpowered relative to the GT-R and I asked if he really thought Honda would even get close to the GT-Rs power based on its history of under-powering most of its cars relative to everything else.

I missed that. I'm tired. been at work for 12 hours and home for a few. Going to bed.

CRZ is slow and the new Civic Si is disappointing.
Honda just doesn't have a car that appeals to the enthusiast market anymore.
They went the Toyota route.

Depends where it comes in on price, if it's 20K less then a GT-R...

IF this new nsx comes in at a 60 to 70K price point, i could see this selling, but it's performance is still going to leave a lot to be desired when you start looking at similarly priced cars -- GT500, C6/C7 vette etc.

R8 copy or not, I think that rendering looks good, but it's just going to be too far down on power/performance for what I'm expecting them to really charge for it (80-100K) to ever consider it.

Isamu 01-02-2012 03:22 PM

but its a hybrid too!

not necessarily a bad thing in my book. if it's primarily rwd with hybrid assist motors on each of the front wheels, that could be pretty cool assuming the tech operates seamlessly from the driver's perspective. Good mpg, good performance, cleaner etc is not a bad thing and all those things don't necessarily have to be mutually exclusive.

True, the 20k less would put it into even more compition as you mentioned...well nevermind then. :) At least it looks not too bad.

If it was at least 500hp and came in at around 100K, it'd be a hit I think, to be taken seriously nowadays in the supercar world, you NEED to be packing at least 500hp. Anything less and you're just a plain jane sports car and there's plenty of those around for a lot less coin. (exception to the rule: lotus type cars that are super duper lightweight and can get away with less hp).

Yeah 500 min, and under 3300LBS. with the right price.
