I like it. Needs fender vents.

KingZee 01-11-2012 03:00 AM

Like the look, somewhat resembles an R8 to me. I like the back more than the front.

wilsonp 01-15-2012 01:52 AM

Hope they get rid of the Acura beak by then, but I like it, might replace the R8 as my next daily driver :) - unless a Cayman S appears in my future.

OTOH, I might be spoiled by the Touring features on my 370Z by then, and find they leave out too much (bet it won't have a heated steering wheel either!)

If it comes in at around 100K with sub-5.0sec 0-60mph (and that better mean something in the neighborhood of 4.5 or lower), with a level of quality expected of a car at that price range, then it's a straight-up R8 (4.2 not 5.2) competitor. Figure it'll be more economical to run per mile, and I can begin to see the appeal. However, I highly doubt that it will be offered with a 3-pedal manual transmission, meaning Luddites will be left with the ZR-1, Carrera S, and R8 as the only viable options. Here's hoping I'm wrong on the last bit.

S.

wilsonp 01-18-2012 11:26 PM

They've already said 7 gear double clutch transmission with built-in electric motor.
I don't think they could support a manual transmission with all the electronic control over the three electric motors and V6.

glad to hear it.

Was talking to the wife tonight over dinner, and she is not opposed to getting one of these new NSXs instead of a GTR at some point, depending on the msrp. :happydance:

No further details on the car itself, but marketing is officially underway for the NSX.

Marketing underway? You mean it has already been done.

Awesome commercial!

Kinda early to advertise on TV for 2015 don't you think?

Nismo89 02-07-2012 05:59 PM

with the Web buzzing about the all new Honda NSX, honda put together a 7 minute hype video.

if you want to skip to the new NSX and not look at the Car's history.. fast forward to 5:00 mark

its looking quite nice

BigT 02-08-2012 11:28 AM

AWD Supercars are doing 0-60 in the 2's so if this car wants to compete, it better do it in 3.9 or better. 4.5 times are for humble sports cars.

Versa_Drifter 05-18-2012 11:38 PM

2014 nsx

What do you guys think of the NSX concept at the Detroit auto show? What do u guys think its capable of when it goes out for sale? Think it can beat a 458?

MC 05-18-2012 11:55 PM

its not going to be in that performance bracket... it is supposed to be a 400hp car so think porsche carerra as a hopeful benchmark

ImportConvert 05-19-2012 05:54 PM

SO basically it will offer base Corvette performance for twice-three times the price? That is the same formula that killed it last time.

LakeShow 05-19-2012 06:32 PM

I don't like Acura's in the first place.

I liked the old NSX, it was just like other Honda cars, like the S2000, though. It died because it failed to evolve significantly over many years and soon became a mid-level sports-car in performance rather than the entry-level "Supercar" it initially was aimed to be, all the while its price remained somewhere between the two. It was horribly stupid marketing, similar to the 300ZX TT, that killed it, and the S2000--both killer awesome cars--just horribly mismanaged.

I think they're going for less is more instead of engaging the other manufacturer in a hp war. If they make it a true drivers car with ample performance, it's a win. I'm curious to see how the hybrid vectoring tech is truly going to effect how it handles around a track. You only need to look at something like the top gear laps to see how the specs don't always win. Also, by the corvette rationale, the 911 should be a flop....then again there's a lot in a name. Honda doesn't have the same prestige as Porsche.

kenchan 05-21-2012 11:14 AM

they should just put their jet engine turbine on it and be done with it.

This is why all eyes are on the FT-86. Does the market really want a "drivers car" or are we hitting a point in the industry norm where we treat our cars no more than our toaster ovens.

Why should the 911 be a flop? It's one of the fastest, most powerful cars on the planet, with 650 horsepower in factory GT2 trim.
Or it's docile, and a GREAT driver's car, with ample power to feel sporty, in the base 911 trim. The 911 has a trim level for every desire. AWD, RWD, N/A, TT, you name it. It's a helluva success, and Corvette has emulated the 911 philosophy.

FTFY :stirthepot:

I test drove 911s before buying my Z. Besides the real reasons I didn't go with a used 996, I had no trouble spinning it and knew it could have been the death of me. I also know I can't ever have a sportbike :ugh2:

Edit: Still looking forward to actual NSX details and reviews.
