That said, I do like the M3, and the next gen turbo 6 will be sick I"m sure, still, I'd rather have the two cars.
only thing that kills the new m3 for me is the decision to go with a v6 (or at least that is the latest rumor I've heard)

If that is true i would be disappointed as well. The I6 is imo what BMW is known for.

If it is in fact turbo'ed from the factory, that kinda makes up for missing that awesome high revving v8 in the current one imo. The improved mpg will be nice to boot.

As a previous 370 owner and a current e92 M3 owner, I would definitely say go for the M3 if you can afford it. There are few cars out there as well balanced as the M3, plus a v8 that revs to 8400 speaks for itself. I absolutely loved my 370 (and 350 before it), but the M3 is on a whole different level.

According to my math, I'll spend about same money either way.

To me, M3 looks very nice among almost all cars below $100k (new cars only) and Z looks much better than Evo but its got so much power potentials compared to Z as well as AWD.

$100k? GT-R.

Sorry, but the Evo is not a good looking car. Speed/hp/torque/awd is just one piece of the overall equation. Honestly, do you want to drive a soup-ed up Lancer?

Z, might not be as fast as Evo or M3, but it is pretty sex. Heads (girls and guys) turn when you see a Z. Evo, only some guys turn to look.

M3. Really? Is it even a question? M3 is the God of sports sedans. Bone stock and EU delivery is only like $55k. Performance delivery? Best Experience EVER. M3 is handling. M3 is performance. M3 is luxury. M3 is style. M3 is sexy. All in one package. Sit in an M3, you'll see the difference from an Evo and Z. DRIVE an M3, and you'll buy it (if you have the $)

Zero to 60 times aren't everything. Like the other thread here was saying, a 135i with $600 tune pushes faster than an M3. But its still a 135.

new gen will be turbo'd, like the M5. But that wont be til 2014 (if they skip the model year like in the past with the 3 series revision)

If you like the V8 engines, get it soon. Rumor has it that they'll change it to a Triple-turbo setup on the next gen M3.
