Red__Zed 10-24-2011 11:13 PM

i'm actually toying with that idea in case of a flat.

Lemers 10-24-2011 11:14 PM

F14's look great on the mustang. I had some linea corse leman wheels on my g35...wonder how they would look on the 5.0...:yum:

COME ON! I scheduled a test drive for a 5.0 and am now cross shopping it with the Z. What it will probably come down to is price and my tailbone

Never thought ford would make the mustang this amazing of a car. but tis ford...so if i wait one more model year...and then one more model year...:shakes head: cant they be like toyota or honda and not change a car for ten years?

Ford started the style in 2004, with a refresh in 2010. It'll stay like this until the 50th anniversary model

Make sure you test a Brembo package car. The suspension is quite different than on the standard GT.

Honestly I think F14s look good on anything. They are a great looking wheel!

I like the RTR wheels, the HRE P40 design, but I figure if I get wheels I want something lighter than stock, so F14s would be a pretty good choice. I've also seen the TSW Nurburgrings on a 5.0 and they look great as well.

The problem with that is that it won't fit in the spare tub, even with the tire deflated.

I just barely managed to fit one of my winter wheels (245/45/18 on a 18x9 wheel) into the tub deflated, but it makes the trunk liner sit up about 2" or so higher than normal. There is a thread on AFM (I think) where some people put together a spare package with the help of Discount Tire Direct. I think they used an 18x8 or 18x7.5 Drag wheel with a 205 width tire that fit perfectly in the tub.

Keep in mind with the Brembo car you are also going to have to get yourself a scissor jack as they don't come with one.

There's no way that V8 Vantage is only $38,495. It'd probably a typo. $88,495 is more like it.

I looked at Nurbs when I was wheel shopping. Once I saw the f14s I quickly forgot about the TSW's. Price wasnt even that much different. Too bad I couldnt say the same for delivery times:shakes head: Anyway the wait was worth it I love my Forgestars. They are a tremendous deal.

Yeah its gotta be Ive been scratching my head ever since I saw that post last night.

m4a1mustang 10-25-2011 07:21 AM

Yeah the wait time kind of sucks, but you are getting a good deal for a wheel that looks that nice and weighs somewhere in the 22-24lb range.

Online car ads are a haven for scammers. If it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Yeah, if it's a private seller with a price much MUCH lower than dealerships, it's either a scammer, a vengeful ex-spouse, or someone with no concept of what the car is worth. And 95% of the time, it's a scammer, because if they're technical enough to list the car on the site, they're smart enough to browse around at other ads.

When the dark side gets a hold of you, it gets a hold of you, doesn't it? :) Good thing for you is, looks like you don't have EITHER a Z or a 5.0 yet, and now can decide fully which one you like and will get. I had a Z for a year or so (like other folks here, like RedZed and m4a1), but then test drove a 5.0 and fell in love with it.... Let us know what you decide! Can't go wrong with either :)

Did you use to have a Z too, baldie? I did not know.

Amen. Steve, you know what happened to me right? I test drove a used 2012 with no brembos, and already fell in love with that one, and almost bought that off the lot, remember? Then asked you guys if BBK was worth it... So technically, I haven't even DRIVEN a BBK car, but ordered it that way anyways. I have no doubt it will even be better.

Oh wow, I didn't realize you actually haven't driven one yet. They are very nice.

If we use the Z as a base line, the standard GT has more body roll than the Sport package Z and the Brembo package cars have less. It's a stiffer car than standard but much sportier in the handling department. And the brakes are very nice.

FromG2Z 10-25-2011 09:58 AM

btw... anybody know this guy? Looks like he's on this forum. Make sure you click on the link he puts in there... I will reserve comment since he's a fellow forum member.

Only thing that would make this perfect is if he was going to trade it in for a 5.0 :D

You know, you're not the only one that has said that the BBK 5.0 actually has less body roll than the sport pkg Z. Some Z owners don't believe it lol. I'll know for sure when I get my car, but from testing the base 5.0 and how impressed I was already, I have no doubt the bbk 5.0 will be far better. p.s. those bbk rims are just s*xy.

m4a1mustang 10-25-2011 10:03 AM

The reason they don't believe it is because the roll rate is a bit better on the Z, so even though it rolls over more, it doesn't happen as quickly. The biggest problem with the 5.0s suspension is that it's a little under-damped in the rear. Konis or other aftermarket shocks/struts fix that, though.

GZ3 10-25-2011 10:58 AM

i got a base, and drove the BBK and there is a difference...of course since then i have added ford K springs, tires and diff pads so am goooood

Yeah Definately will let you guys know. If you'd talked to me in the 90s or the early 00s i would have said something along the lines of never owning an american car. Yet hear I am. Cross shopping one.
