Most of the 370s I see around here are driven by women or old guys. Either they are too oblivious to care or are to sensible to street race.

9.1 vs 9.7? Surely that's not a 1/4-mile, or those are both modded.

And lol it's a C6 vert.

And it was a street racing vid. Vette probably didn't know they were racing.

m4a1mustang 09-20-2011 07:41 AM

That's the 1/8 mile. Now that I think about it that's really crappy, because bone stock I was running like 8.4 in the 1/8 :icon17:

Bottom line is the cars are close enough for it to be a driver's race. Mustang can have a gearing advantage which would help in 0-xxx runs.

I know, I was trolololing you.

It's an impressive vid. I didn't think they were that close.

Where you at the meet that time that dbag in the C5 Vette was messing with you guys, starting at the rear of the convoy and working his way to the front?

Well I was at the front of the convoy, and I was mad that he was messing with my ducklings.

Maybe you were driving your Z with two missing spark plugs or bad motor mounts but my Z is glassy smooth from idle to redline. My shifts are smooth as butter despite what you say (maybe you cant drive?)

Sorry but I will have to echo Red_Zed's statement too. I love my Z, but anything past 6k rpm even with my Invidia's is somewhat coarse and shrieking. I know what "smooth" means, and that part about our Z's is not a good thing. I haven't pushed a 5.0 to redline yet, so I can't speak for its smoothness, but I do know our Z's are not that smooth. Heck, my Odyssey minivan is smoother...lol. You might think it's smooth, but at least be open that other cars "might" be smoother.

ahahahaha, no I missed that one!

I remember a meet where an M3 was revving on us on our way to a restaurant (I think it was Todai).

I want to see the base C6 beaten by a stock Mustang GT. Would love to see that vid.

Thats because guys like you and I aren't out street racing.

I'm trolling a Z thread and I own a Z????? I have none of the problems you guys complain about. When she was stock she was a little noisy coming up to redline but that changed with the intakes. Sound and being rough is two different things. Just cause it sounds rough does not mean it is rough. Ya know what Red_Zed I'll back off, I dont want my username to end up on the Mustang Forums.

Now for my first "On Topic" post in this thread.

So, for years, car mags have speculated that the next mustangs would have an IRS.

What say you, 5.0wners? Do you really think the next Stang strikes a blow for independence? Or do you think it remans LRA?

Ford had like 4 openings posted for guys with experience doing IRS...my guess would be yes :rofl2:

Hoping it gets done well...I'd pick it up. If not, we will see what's out then

Yes, IRS for next model.

It's also going to be a minimum of 250 lbs lighter. The 5.0 will be direct injected with an estimated 450 hp.

3.7L V6 might be replaced with a turbo 4 banger.

So I should hold out another year, and then I can beat you guys on the Dragon? SWEET! :roflpuke2::roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

RZ, that sounds like a pretty good indicator.

i'd heard the rumor about the 4 banger from a couple rags and from a buddy of mine who is a mechanic at a Ford dillership.

Isamu 09-20-2011 08:40 AM

so after we move into the house... and I get back from deployment.. should I trade in the Z and get a GTR, or a 5.0hh

b1adesofcha0s 09-20-2011 08:40 AM

Also heard it's not going to be a retro design and will be something new that has some elements of prior mustangs. Ford wants to sell the same version of it in all global markets.

That's a pretty significant price gap there :icon17:

I like the GT-R better, but a 5.0 would save you a ton of money that you could use to pay off your house, save, and mod the 5.0.
