Forgot I even posted that, but I still stand by it. Z stays over the 86, would add the 86 at the right price.

I love driving my s2000 even though its painfully slow. So its not all about power, but it is nice to have the 5.0 and clk500 when I need HP/torque.

What did an S2k cost brand new? It was a 30k car.

I like the BRZ/FRS, I like the S2k, I like the Miata, I like the Elise. Power is only part of the performance car experience.

Saw a black one in person yesterday, and I must say, it's definitely got potential. I'd have to see them modified, but no, I would not trade the Z in for it.

And there's no way in hell I'd pay $30k for an S2000.

Me neither, but that was 30k in early-2000's bux. Inflate that to 2012 bux, that puts it around 35k-ish? These cars are as fast for 28k. The problem? No drop top. Even then, 28k is the top price. You can get into one for 25k or so.

Yeah the S2000 was surprisingly expensive compared to how bare bones it was.

Bare bones yes, but if Honda actually charged enough to make a profit on the S2000s (they lost money on everyone they made, just like the NSX), they would have been closer to $50k (they were hand built after all). They were nearly perfect, the balance was unbelievable, truly the best car I've ever owned, better then my brand new Z (which I love, not knocking it one bit). The S did stock what everyone here who mods their Zs is trying to do (except for the horsepower part obviously).

I agree with most of what you said, except this part. The S was a different kind of car. Closer to a suped-up Miata than a Z. The Z is very bulky. It's practically a muscle car in comparison. I love the S, but 33k brand new was too much cost for what the car was, in my opinion.

When comparing the S to the Z, I tell my friends, "My S was like a pro figure skater, my Z is more like a pro hockey player!!!"

The S was pure precision, the Z is pure beef! I was Tim Allen caveman grunting all the way home from the dealership.
