Worlds fastest electric car is a Datsun?

Apologies if you've seen this, I did a forum search first. World's Fastest Electric Car is a 1972 Datsun 1200 If they can get battery cells cheaper and more recyclable

If they can get battery cells cheaper and more recyclable this is going to be the way of the future.

I've looked into building one a few times but the motors and batteries are very expensive.

0-60 in 3 seconds, 11.46 in the quarter mile!?!? That electric beater will embarrass most cars!

Yes, the engine and drivetrain is completely removed. 2 electric motors lifted from forklifts drive the rear wheels, not sure what is in between as the electric motors were in the front of the car.

He initially ran it on banks of lead-acid batteries but switched over to lithium which saved him about 600 pounds of weight and allowed him to break his own record.

It also shows him driving it around town where it is pretty docile and quiet. At the track it sounds like an angry cordless drill

Yeah. I've seen lots of videos and articles about this car. He's not an electric snob either, but wants to show people how fast electric cars really are. He's running on 40AH Kokam batteries now, I believe. They're kind of pricey, but I think he got a sponsorship from Kokam to get the price down. I think they're currently priced about $1 per wh.

He would go a lot faster if he used either the Siemens AC motors or Brusa motors instead, but it's still shocking to see the forklift motors doing what they do.

I plan to do an electric swap someday, but until I can afford the 30K, it's just a dream.
