The Z is BAAADLLYYY losing the hp wars these days.

Most of the articles that were written about the demise (discontinuation) of the camaro/firebird in 2002 was because the purchasers kept wanting more and more out of the car, more hp, better looks, until finally, it was just a 4-seat corvette. Assuming that's true, it seems like they are trading awfully close to the mistake of the past.

no matter how fast these new mustangs and camaros, the Z looks way better

Lemers 07-24-2010 12:53 AM

Somethings always gonna come out newer and faster. Either be happy with what you got or spend yourself to death trying to buy the newest and fastest.

I'll take an 87 IROC-Z again, this time with TTops though

Lemers 07-24-2010 09:51 AM

I'd take a Z with a targa top

One of these days, I WILL own an 80's IROC

Lemers 07-24-2010 10:03 AM

Better get it soon before the restoration crowd starts to set it's eyes on '80s cars and the prices of unrestored ones goes through the roof

JACKPAC 07-24-2010 10:05 AM

This car has similar specs to the CTS-V which retails for around 75,000ish. That would be one over-priced camaro!

The car was discontinued for slow sales. Sales were slow because GM didn't redesign the car in 10 years. I think there was some drama around what platform the next gen would ride on in the late 90's that pushed out the redesign so long that they decided to stop production.

So unless we see the exact some body style in 2019, I don't see the parallels.

Didn't redesign the car for 10 years?

Oh, and let's not forget the completely different engine, going from iron to aluminum. Your argument is dumb and invalid.

This I actually might like. :)
