Thing I can't get with is the premium fuel recommendation. Sure, it's not *required* but I feel like if you don't do it, you're only going halfway on a car that's already only going halfway to being a sports car. And at the same time, that kind of investment is silly with a Civic.

Absolutely. Coupes are a dying breed. First, it was the 3 door hatchback that died in favour of 5 door 'practicality' and now it seems many coupes are being wound up/not renewed for a new generation - this is especially the case at the affordable end of the market, as there will likely always be a niche market for luxury high performance coupes. It's worse for those of us outside the USA, since we don't get the full suite of 2 door pony/muscle car options Americans do.

I find it all quite depressing, really, as it limits our choice as coupe consumers. Where an SUV buyer can often chose between dozens of affordable competitors in any market segment, the coupe buyer today is often restricted to just a few options in their price range, which removes much of the market pressure for manufacturers to renew their products or develop new ones.
