GT-R sold for over sticker???
I was at the Nissan dealership today and they had two GT-Rs in the showroom. Naturally, I took a look at them and happened to notice the window sticker. The total was $87,000 and then there was a pen'd in line saying "Adjusted Market Value: +$10,000". Grand total is $97,000!
Now, if I really wanted a GT-R, I'd imagine $10k wouldn't make a big difference as I'd also have enough to cover $90k vs $100k. However, I have a HUGE problem with giving a dealership $10k for no good reason. Thoughts?

Just because it says that doesn't mean you pay it.

The GTR they had next to my Z on the showroom had tbe same 10K Dealer Markup. No big surpise there. You want the car bad enough, you'll drop the money. However for close to 100k I could find alot of other things to spend my money on.

As of now, I can find brand new GT-R's for under MSRP easily. That dealer is seriously trying to milk the situation, after the nips are dry.

Is it because Nissan keeps tightening the warranty. Can't use launch control on the 08's, then can't turn of VDC on 09's. 10's, you cannot use full throttle without voiding warranty. Haha

Yeah, these were 2009s. You can't charge 10k over sticker for last year's model. Not to mention I'd bet dealers would drool to make a GTR sale if someone walked in the door and had the $87k to spend.

I guess they figure if they are patient enough they will find a buyer at that price. They might be waiting for a while.

I wouldnt lump them all into once basket. There are many that are outstanding, such as Fontana Nissan out in Southern California, and Boulder Nissan in Colorado.
And for those in the greater Atlanta/Georgia region, they just come to us for service instead.

There is no reason to pay that, I was at a dealership and saw a price of 76k and that is what they were asking.
This whole paying 10-15k more than the MSRP is stupid and you are an idiot to not shop around and pay it. DAN

Its pretty standard for dealers to put the additional dealer markup sticker next to the MSRP sticker. It doesnt mean they will stick to that price, in many cases, you can still get under MSRP or even under invoice.
The reason for the sticker is simply that some will pay that price and by starting at a higher price in negotiation, they hope that after giving you a discount its higher than if they had started at MSRP. Its primarily psychological. |
