I believe the race cars use a sequential box and not a dual clutch (mainly due to weight concerns)

Here's something I found on the initial release of the race car... it may have changed but I doubt it.

Looks like home run for GM.
Price point is crazy for car.
The car will also be made with right hand drive.
Watch out Europe.

Nice, poor Supra. Man this thing is gonna destroy the Supra for not much more money, well worth the premium over the Supra. Toyota is like dayuuum, was not expecting this so soon to take the hype away from the Supra!

What we have here is an even more badass Chevy Fiero that is almost a supercar stock! Well done.

It would be kool if they made a 2,400lb fiero with the 4 banger from the camaro. That would be wicked. But pansies wont support it. Cuz... CROSSOVERS are better. :eekdance:

I have one negative criticism. The rear seems overly massive in comparison to the proportions of the rest of the car. But that said. No supercars has a usable trunk except the c8.

EDIT:

Maybe the GTR isn't obsolete yet? This interview states. The Corvette goes to 60 in under 3 seconds in the ZR1 package. Which is true of the c7 Z06 and ZR1. So we dont know the numbers of the LT2 engine yet. But I'm sure its an improvement of the stock 3.8 seconds to 60 that some reached 3.6 in a base Z.

EDIT 2:

I didnt expect anything less from a DCT. But it's nice knowing chevy didnt do a dck move...

From the articles I've read, GM has put a lot of thought into...everything. Looks are each to their own, but this car's very existence right now is pretty insane.

Like "maybe I don't want a bargain on a used C7 anymore" insane. Hope there's no reliability issues.

I also heard from a good source.
C8 in future will be a hybrid with electric motor in front and all wheel drive.
He stated that engineers have planned this from the start.

I’m a bit gun shy with GM and first year rollouts, but I’m awaiting price book and may look to pull the trigger in late summer 2020 when pricing settles in. With this car if the base/z51 are producing the numbers they claim I don’t see a need to wait for z06 or Zr1.

I see people debating this and Supra, I think this will cause toyomw or BMYota to go back and figure some stuff out quickly because I think it took all wind out of whatever sail they were flying while teasing for past few years. .Nissan themselves better figure it out because with their recent GTR unjustified money grab will drive sales to zero as well. I mean I’ll wait for numbers but 200k plus nismo GTR or 3 of these cars and cash leftover.

I've been a defender of the Supra. I feel like there's more to it than meets the eye.

But I mean the vents are fake, justified as "being ready for mods".
There is supposedly vacancies ready for coolers as well.
The C8, for a bit more, already gives you that, plus 2 cylinders (not to mention Supra fans want to throw in a 2JZ into the current Supra), sub-3 second 0-60,probably 200mph given the C7 Z51 did like 190, a targa top, probably gonna see the thing continue its LeMans GT success, made in 'murica. I mean the interior seems more bonkers as well.

I am aware the SF90 is probably going to run circles around the C8, but the C8 is every bit of what a supercar has been the past decade when it comes to the fundamental blueprint. It's so crazy to think such money can buy that now.

The Supra didn't seem so bad, and started getting my interest with the power bump revealed, but GM just came about with the best car on planet Earth as of the past few days.

Mind right now is saving up for hopefully a late 2020 or 2021 purchase — there will hopefully be less likelihood of premiums and major issues will also hopefully be figured out. Manual transmission aside, this is literally the car I feel a lot of people were looking for from any manufacturer that has been involved with sports cars.

The SF90 is the new hybrid supercar. I think the "competitor" is the F8 Tributo

From an engineering standpoint, the new Vette looks good on paper. It's nice they're finally going with the MR layout. I still woudn't get one just due to preference.

:iagree:

Many will want to dismiss these cars cuz their favorite car company didnt do it. But the vette is king and Supra is the prince right now. If the supra was a Z and the vette was a GTR? You would hear the neverending praises. Its kool though. What's good about not being a FANBOY but being a REAL enthusiast. The experience means so much more than the brand. I love any company supporting the cause. I'm as loyal as the next new sports car. Abandon the enthusiast. I abandon the company. See you when you get your head straight and build a sports car fitting to be competitive.

Thank you Chevy. Thank you Toyota.

Just praying chevy is lying about the camaro and hoping nissan wakes up from their coma.

On the short run I'm looking at a ZL1 but on the long term? I may get the Vette or Supra.

Mazda just designed an inline 6 for sport applications. It's about to get real!

Agreed, I don’t have brand loyalty, I just was expecting like everyone else a 100k Bette and was waiting for the why buy this when you could buy xxx. I’m glad to see all of these affordable options out there regardless of brand. I’ve had zero issues from my 370z So still have no bad blood, rather I wish they would get their head in game with something new versus a 10 year old platform a major increase.

Wait for the C8 Z06 the following year. Next year's reveal. It has a rumored 4.2 liter Twin turbo charged engine with 720-750hp. That car will be on my to get list for the wife. LOL

Rusty 07-22-2019 02:39 PM

If the Vette works from the get go, with little problems. And gets great reviews. It will blow everything out of the water. A lot who are sitting on the fence will go with the Vette. Long as the dealers don't jack the price up.

Z MODE & MY MODE EXPLAINED.

https://www-autoblog-com.cdn.ampproj...r-explained%2F

I have so much customization in my camaro. It's amazing I can go from super beastly crazy bucking bronco. To civil luxury soft driving. MRC is something amazing. Sounds like it only gets better in the C8.

UNKNOWN_370 07-22-2019 05:43 PM

I thought this might come in handy if you want to buy a new corvette or any out the box vehicle.
