only 700 were made in this color and found one in forth wort/dallas area. I know the new wrx are running the new 2.0l engines but the sti is still running the old 2.5l engine. So i can see them transitioning to the new 2.0L engines. I couldnt wait for the newer sti so decided to get this special edition one. plus im leasing just in case i dont like the car 2-3 yrs from now

Oh ok, thanks for that info. I did a nation wide auto trader search and found 3 or 4 of these Hyper blue still sitting on show room floors for 40k. I dont think my wife would go for the smurf blue though but she is ok with the WR Blue. That tip about the changing of the engines you mentioned was exactly what the subaru tuner shop who installed my wheels and springs told me when I contacted the owner. He said its not "if" its for SURE going to happen in '17. That's what made me do the internet surfing and realized the rumors are all pointing towards a NY Auto show release at the end of March. I never lease as I keep my cars for a very long time and its like paying rent to me, I will never own it and that's just not my style. Here's to hoping they change:nutswinger:

Excellent! I am just waiting till they announce the '17 model to see if there are any engine changes that have been in the rumor mills for awhile. Either way I am going to order a WR Blue by the end of March so I will get it as soon as it drops this summer!

Did you get the Limited edition with the full leather or the regular version?

kenchan 02-13-2016 07:20 PM

Mine is the base STI with the nav/hk package. :)

Considering the JDM STI's are running the DI engines I bet it's only a matter of time. The old 2.5L is okay for me though!

right on, the nav package is a must for any car in the mid 30k range on up! I plan to order the Limited version as I want the full leather etc. Oh, did they let you test drive it before hand? Dealer here said no test drives until I buy the car, that is their standing policy to keep joy riders out of the car. :icon14:

I love the STI ***, just saying! :) I found this gem over in Melbourne, FL, only one in the state! Rare color I guess? Hurry up '17 models!!!

yep, the dealer knew i just wanted to verify the car before i bought it so no issue there on the test drive. and im a mid-40's guy, so that might've helped too. :ugh:

..about the nav... i couldn't see myself buying a flagship model without nav and the hk stereo, keyless/push button start especially for a dd. i didnt want the weight of the glass on the roof and i preferred the base STI's wheels so i went with this trim. it's all personal preference though. :)

thanks, DSLTR! i thought about that wing quite a bit before i made the purchase, and my conclusion was (still is) that an STI requires that big wing to be an STI.

my wife even said that the wing didnt bother her. it looks natural on the car and would look too bland without it. :D

+1 on the wing. I perused the STI web world and looked at wingless etc. No thanks. I like the big wing and I have had some nice discussions about it in public etc. Some may not like it but thats what the STi has, a wing. It belongs!! Glad you have a happy wing home-life :)

Niche79 02-14-2016 09:27 PM

If you don't have a wing on the car, then its not an STI or an Evo. I am sorry, I just think those are the plain Jane models. My wife thinks the car is ugly but because were having a baby in April, and its going to be my car, she doesn't care. Not like she can drive a stick anyhow!

kenchan 02-15-2016 10:23 AM

yah, i can see this being an EXCELLENT dd especially with babies and kids. the doors open very wide for easy access... and plenty of room in the back seat area and trunk.

btw, I installed my Husky brand all season floor mats on the driver and passenger front this am while putting my battery manager on the car. :D mats fit perfectly and the coverage is MUCH better than the factory all season mats.

i have the husky rear mats too, but since the floor under the factory all season mats was already lightly soiled, i decided ill just use the rears next winter and tell my kids not to step on the center carpet hump. they're use to dat hump on my G coupe, so no issue. :D i still prefer running carpet mats in the summer though.

if you're interested: Husky 99801
