this car will murder any 370z on the planet. :driving:

Seriously, 4 out of the 8 post you started (including this one) ended up being locked.

Do you see a problem here?

problem is, people cant have a fun hearted discussion about cars. people get defensive and start flaming. when i hit back people run away and the mods lock it. if people dont flame i wont need to defend myself. :driving:

YamahaR6 11-04-2009 10:17 AM

sigh~ let's see how this one will go.

No, the problem is you post a good discussion topic and then make comments per the bold quotation. I would be more than glad to talk about a V8 gen coupe (mid engine), but you began the conversation the wrong way.

The question is not about you setting up a defensive scenario, its because as said before, you've posted a thread already on the Genesis Coupe. Do you really need more than one? We accept that you really like the Genesis. And are happy you found a car that suits you, but with the intent of coming here and spouting off again and again 'Genesis Owns Z'... You know full well you're going to get flak in return, be it from intelligent people citing tests and drives and numbers and factual information. And then you have others who just love their Z as much as you enjoy your Genesis Coupe. They just spout flame cause you disagree with them. But by your action of repeatedly trying to bring up the same issue after the thread has already been locked. It kind of highlights you as just trying to keep poking this issue thats already been addressed. So playing possum saying your just defending yourself over and over is kind of silly.

YamahaR6 11-04-2009 10:31 AM

Betting that this thread will end up being locked. Anyone?

well said and i agree. i edited the last part out.

but i am pretty sure this is the "other vehicles" forum so i am pretty sure its ok to post about other cars then the Z. i did not post this in the Z main forum.

Thats all well and good, but you and I both know this isn't the first time that you've proclaimed that the Coupe owns the Z. And then you saw where that went, so now knowing that and you reopen a new thread (correct section being irrelevant) with the same catchphrase... I mean you can't seriously expect that those same people tossing flame before won't be looking for this again. So your instigating the attention you claim your only defending against... Doesn't quite make sense.

you are wrong my friend. i never said, "the coupe owns the Z". in this thread i said this particular 500HP heavily modded coupe would own the Z. then again if you modded the Z that much it would be even again. so apples to oranges. it was a dumb comment i made in this thread, thus the reason i deleted it.

stock VS stock the Z is the faster car. (20 more HP) and a bit lighter.

what i did say is that the Gen Coupe has better breaks (brembos VS Nissan breaks) and a stiffer more track tuned suspension. that could come into play on a heavy breaking track.

please, just go play on the Hyundai site Nur...

How can I be wrong when your openly admitting you made a dumb comment?

Ok, so your saying that only in the extremely specific scenario of the special edition Genesis vs a stock Z on a track that is built for heavy braking the Genesis would win?

Honestly if that's the only way it can win, where do you derive that it is a 'better car' based on a highly specified test bed? Shouldn't the 'Best Car' idea go to the vehicle which wins in the most categories accessible to that class of car?

HP?
Torque?
Lap Time?
Strip Time?
0-60?
60-0?
Curb Weight?
Turning Radius?
etc. etc.

I mean if a car gets more X's than the other... its a pretty unanimous decision right?

Just a note: Nissan brakes are by Akebono. Also used by the McLaren F1 team.

Gen Coupe has better brakes or not? Not judging.

Side note: it's brake not breaks.

no, not "special edition genesis". my genesis, the 3.8 Track Model. the top of the line stock model.

the 3.8 track model has better breaks and better track suspension. so yes, if the track was more geared for that type of car it would have a good chance of beating the 370.

be honest. dont you wish the 370 came with brembos over "nissan" breaks. lol

shumby 11-04-2009 11:14 AM

no

yea and look at what happened to Lewis Hamilton Car the last race of the season. BRAKE FAILURE. :icon18:

most of the racing world uses brembo for a reason.

i never was a good speller. :(

Doesn't exactly sound the same, because if it has Brembo's most 'stock' cars don't come with outside company brakes unless they are in the 6 figure price range, so I would call that a special edition. That would be saying the NISMO vs a Stock Z. Or do you call NISMO Stock?

What brand was he using, do you know? And specifically was was the failure?

YamahaR6 11-04-2009 11:23 AM

Doubt he knows about Akebono brakes; probably just found out 2 minutes ago. That's why he keeps calling it "Nissan Breaks".

Porsche also has "Porsche Breaks". You know?

shumby 11-04-2009 11:27 AM

the track model of the genesis coupe comes with brembo brakes. not sure what you are trying to say. just go look at the hyundai website. the 3.8 track model for $31,500 comes with brembos standard.

as for lewis hamilton. he was using akebono according to what YamahaR6 said. he had to retire from the race for the left right rear brake problem.

to be fare though it was the first mechanical failure he ever had that led to a retirement of the race.

never heard of akebono. you are correct my good man.

the fact that i have never heard of them or seen them and i am a huge Rally and F1 fan and general super car lover says a lot. tell you what i have seen and heard of. BREMBO. lol

I'm trying to say that Brembo is a specialized Brake company, so not every car is going to have them. Therefore they are not 'stock'. So to say your coupe vs a Stock Z and even then only in a highly turn based track the coupe might beat the Z is a highly specified situation and shouldn't be used to base the fact Coupe > Z.

as for lewis hamilton. he was using akebono according to what YamahaR6 said. he had to retire from the race for the left right rear brake problem.

So a singular incident for the first time of that magnitude is enough to disavow Akebono as a good competition quality brake? Have you looked into the Braking Section to read about Akebono's and Track Quality?

shumby 11-04-2009 11:35 AM

brembo vs. "nissan brake"

I did read that, and its a good cover for the fact you were still trying to say based on the singular event that akebono's are not up to track quality of Brembo's.

shumby 11-04-2009 11:43 AM

you bring your gen coupe and i'll bring my G37. I bet you i will still spank you on the track

So your trying to say a 'Track Tuned Suspension' is going to be better than the 'Stock' Z Suspension... Isn't that kind of a duh? :ugh2:

And even still are you trying to say the Coupe would 'own' the Z in that race, or would you consider it being a 'Close' race? Cause if it would be a close race, then saying the coupe has a track tuned suspension wouldn't be that big of a deal?
