A few years ago my wife and I did a one day stint with Proformance Racing (it was all Mini Coopers, my wifes car). It was fun, very educational, and well run. It would be much more interesting in the Z.

Did I read somewhere that a few people are interested in doing a mid-week run in June around south Mt. Ranier?

Yes. I'm thinking possibly the third week due to weather and snow melt/wet roads.

What timing /days work for those interested?

I have a pretty flexible schedule myself. Do you guys tend to get up and go or is it more of a social event?

When you're on the track are there other drivers on at the same time (ie cars jockeying for position or trying to pass you)? I just don't want to be worrying about my skills while learning and worrying about another driver not being careful...especially if I use my own car.

We weren't allowed to pass that I can recall. Your best bet is to call Proformance and go over the program because you definitely do not want to be out your comfort zone or be around those that may fancy themselves as being better than they are. "Oh sorry dude, I thought I could out brake you on turn 2. Will that cost much for you to fix?".

I honestly don't know car racing protocol at all but I raced go karts for several years and testosterone is testosterone.

With Porsche and BMW clubs at least at Pacific Raceways the driver in front is required to signal to let people pass in designated passing zones on the track……no signal no pass. Of course if a slower individual does not signal after some time they will be flagged off of the track. Black flag = not good!

MotorsportReg.com : Online registration management tools for driving and social events

The above link has a listing for all driving events……..everywhere, but you can narrow down the list by searching x miles from your zip code.

1. Register for a driver's skills day with the Porsche club….usually held at Bremerton speedway. The is the first step and is open to anyone/car. ~$80 including SA2005 helmet rental.

2. Join either the BMW or ALPHA ROMEO car clubs (they can run with the Porsche club at the Driver's Ed days….high speed driving at Pacific Raceways)…..cost is club dependent

3. Car inspection based on the Porsche Clubs criteria ~$100. More information can be found at:
Driver Education | At the Track | PNWR | PCA

4. Sign up for a high speed or drivers education day on: MotorsportReg.com : Online registration management tools for driving and social events and pay ~$200 ish
5. Attend the ground school "seminar/class" ~2 hours and $10 and you are good to go for the track.

Essentially this is not racing but training on how to drive your car fast.

What is really cool about the "classes" is that there are some seriously high end cars that come. These people just want to experience driving their cars quickly on the track and minimize the chance of rubbing paint.

There are definitely different options out there to get on the track but the above is most of the process I went through.

I would be interested too. I'll be visiting Seattle in the latter half of August and it looks like there's a class on Mon Aug 16...unless these guys would do a 370Z group class and a different date can be set???

I'm thinking about it. I heard the one in Bremerton is easy and cheap to get into.

Is Bremerton a "skills" event? Skills days are fairly cheap but not really track or high speed oriented, just handling related. Kind of fun though…typically slalom, throttle steering, auto cross, high speed braking, offset slalom and handling ovals are the mini drills for the whole day.

PoP! Was that you at Pacific Raceways yesterday? What a day that was! Sure had a great time despite how much running around I had going on.

Default Saturday Drive with ZCCW

Here's the info:

May 29th is memorial day week end. Would it be ok to do the drive then? I figure a 10:00AM show time @ Star lake park and ride, with a 10:30 leave time. Here is the link for the drive that starts at star lake, to Enumclaw (short stop for coffie and rest rooms.), to Eatonville (lunch @ Truly Scrumptious Cafe Bakery.), Yelm, Rochester (short break rest rooms/gas.), across Capital forest (Mima Mounds area) and on to Olympia Priest Piont. Good local places to eat and dine in Olympia. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 2b7ca2&z=9
The drive itself takes around 4-5 hrs.
Created by me
Star lk. P&R-P riest Point Park. Public
Start @ Star lk. P&R out to Enumclaw, regroup @ Railroad st.and stevenson ave. off to the right.(15min.)
(Local bake shops, coffie, etc).
From Enumclaw will head to Eatonville.
(little ruffride on mud mt. road.not bad though.) regroup @ Truly Scrumptious Bakery.(20-30 min. lunch.) (Bruno's didn't know if they would have room.)"Sorry"
From Eatonville will go to Yelm and on to Rochester to regroup @ Hwy Diner on the left(15 min).
From there will got to Priest Pt. Park for the end of drive. (Note that when on 4th ave. and turning left onto E. Bay dr. N.E. (actually Plum St. S.E) Use South entrance and meet by Rose Garden if possible, more parking on other side of bridge.
I've made a resevation at Fish Tale Brew and Pub if anyone wishes to join after Priest point. To get there is just two blocks down from 4th on Legion way S.E. and Jefferson st. S.E.
