After being chased by the bikers for nearly two miles, Lien was pulled out of his car and beaten when he got off the highway around West 178th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, police said.

All along, police had been trying to find a man they believe may have saved Lien’s life. His picture was circulated around his Washington Heights neighborhood, CBS 2’s Jessica Schneider reported.

He’s since been identified as Sergio Consuegra and he spoke to CNN on Friday night. He said he was on his way to church when the Range Rover was surrounded by bikers.

“I stood between them and the man lying on the floor and I say to them, ‘That’s it. Let it go. Let it go, man. That’s it. It’s done.’ You know, don’t continue doing it. You’re going to kill the man,” Consuegra said.

Consuegra said the woman identified as Lien’s wife was hysterical.

“Yes, she started screaming and then we saw the baby,” he said. “That’s when we started seeing the baby inside the car with her, you know? And everybody started screaming ‘No, no! Not the lady! Not with the baby! Please don’t do that! I scream. too.”

Officials said at least five bikers began beating and even slashing the driver.

“Real big guys … and that’s when like I started thinking I got to do something because nobody is doing nothing, and they are going to kill this family,” Consuegra said. “That’s the moment when I turn around and went like this (he extends his arms) protecting the family and I said to myself I’m not going to move from here until they go.”

The only person criminally charged so far in Sunday’s encounter is Christopher Cruz. The 28-year-old was arraigned Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and unlawful imprisonment.


Police have said he is the one seen at the start of the video cutting in front of Lien’s Range Rover, causing the initial collision. His defense lawyer, H. Benjamin Perez, has denied all the allegations.

Several 911 calls made by the Lien family portrayed a frantic situation.

The first came from Lien followed by three more from his wife, Rosalyn Ng, who told the 911 operator they were “being surrounded” and ”being followed.”

During a final call from 178th Street, Ng told the dispatcher that the bikers were “attacking the car.”

It took emergency officials seven minutes to respond. Their sirens can be heard in the background during the final 911 call.

Ng released a statement Thursday saying they were “faced with a life-threatening situation” when they “were placed in grave danger by a mob of reckless and violent motorcyclists.”

Depends on where you live but I know in Washington state the only way you can carry in your car is with a CCP otherwise any firearm must be unloaded and ammo must be kept separately.. in otherwords its pointless at that point... Everyone might want to check the local laws before following this advice. Probably similar to WA in most states.. aside from TX maybe...lol

I ride my motorcycle regularly but I have respect for other people on the road. I get pissed when riders interfere with traffic flow to stunt. They were all acting like they own the road and were only acting tough because there was 50 of them. They were making the drivers of the RR move at half the speed limit for a period of time and then one dumb *** decided he wanted to brake check the 6k pound vehicle on a 400lb motorcycle. Apparently he never went to high school physics class because he saw the unfortunate out come of what happens when the 6k lb car doesn't stop fast enough. This who group acted like nothing more than a gang of punks and swarmed the car. Who wouldn't have hit the gas and tried to escape for his life if one of them ran to his car and tried ripping him out of the vehicle. I think everyone of that was hurt can be chalked up to a casualty of war that there stupid as buddy started. The current problem with this county is that society has strayed so far from the constitution and preach civil rights for so long that all the *** clowns think they can do whatever they want with no consequences for there actions. I'm sorry if one of the people run over and or hurt was injured but from the video it does not appear that the driver of the RR was acting maliciously it appears that he was fearful for his life and attempting to run away. If the bikers wouldn't have been STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY they wouldn't have gotten hit. The basic fact of this whole incident is that if the bikers would have been going with the flow of traffic there never would have been a problem. Of course the injured riders are trying to sue the driver of the RR, why wouldn't they. I mean clearly they were the victims after they stopped in the middle of the highway to block traffic while they watched as their buddy attempted to attack the driver of the RR. They wanted to act all tough and now they want to cry when they got what was coming to them. If you pick a fight you better be sure you can win it.

She's clearly delusional if she thinks ole' roadkill did nothing wrong. How can she honestly say the dude's intention was to diffuse the situation when that moron can barely put a sentence together. He's not about to tell what really happened.

So much talk about what happens before this, yet there isn't any video of such an event. Just the words of other bikers in the group who did nothing to stop the incident....including the cop who decided to join in. There's so much BS from the bikers, it's hard to take them seriously or approach this with an open mind. It's hard to believe there story when just about everything they say doesn't add up to what you and what the cops see in the videos. Where are the other two bikers that were hit before this incident? Why haven't they stepped up? Why didn't THEY call the cops? ....and if they were so adamant that the RR guy was dangerous to the bikers and feared for their lives, why would you be so stupid as to brake check in front of him. Clearly if the RR guy was the aggressor and was on this bike hitting rampage, we'd be talking about the brake check guy being roadkill. Ignoring the fact that his wife and baby in the car, their version of the story just doesn't add up. This group doesn't seem like the type that would just let it go and walk away.

Back to the video above, if I drive without a license and decide to leave my car in the middle of a highway, I still had no business there in the first place & still guilty of driving without a license. Is she honestly claiming the dude was a pedestrian at that point? I didn't think pedestrians were allowed on the West Side Highway either...just say'n. Not only that, but she said Edwin did nothing wrong and walk over to diffuse the situtation. She says no one had done anything to the DRIVER at that point? (notice how she said driver and not the SUV) If no one had done anything and everything was civil? What situation was Edwin trying to "calm." Why park in front of the SUV. Why is he on the passenger side?

Yeah, everything is on video but the supposed RR driver's actions that justified the mob violence. Suuuure. And it's a shame Allred wasn't riding bitch on homie's bike.

I don't ride but my wife, sister and sisters fiancé do( I'm not responsible enought to ride and undstqnd that) . We talked about this from day one . An seriously?? The guy pulled over afte he tapped the bike( who should have stopped on the hyw to begin with) to apploagize or what not , an all the tuff guys attack this guys car with his wife and child in the car. Who here faced with the same situation wouldn't have done what he did. I know I would .
