Just saw the story on tv. Will that change things??? Driver an inexperienced maniac ???? We'll see...

I got a polite but stern notice that this site doesn't want anything close to a political discussion.

They have that right & I will respect that & thank them for the privilege of letting me post here. No more fun for me:(

Do you have any source claiming that the SUV driver was not licensed?

In 2 weeks you'll see it on MSNBC, maybe.

If I go, thanks for the good times...

I believe he has confused the RR driver and the biker that got run over. The biker has been charged with some form of "driving without a license" (seems he's never had a motorcycle license/endorsement but that part of the report may be premature). Since no such charges have been filed against the RR driver (that I know of), I'm assuming he had a DL.

Anyway, I'm sure it will come out, as well as the BIG law suit being filled against the driver by a well known lawyer. I guess that story is also not out yet. I'm bored with this till I see more stuff come out.

Some lady got shot & killed by the White House. That should end my participation here:( Sad.....

Nope. The Mass. driver is the cripple. The story about the lawsuit is seriously two posts above yours.

There's legal knowledge and then there's common sense. Seems like some people take pride in having a lot of the former and none of the latter.

Common sense says that the biker shouldn't win (suspended license, videos of doing illegal stuff beforehand, etc). But we all know how things can turn out and I'm no lawyer so I don't know all the laws protecting people that drive without a license sooo...

Yes. He secretly worked for the NSA and set up the whole incident to run over and paralyze the rider. We've all been suckered. It was a hit made to look like an accident.

The biker just justified every single stereotype. Thieving drug dealing dirtbag ends up a parapalegic. Oh well. Luckily, his spine was crushed so he can't procreate.

Maybe we've got this all wrong. He was trying to help. He saw something stuck in the undercarriage of the Range Rover and dove in to get it out. It's a national tragedy for sure.

Interesting frame by frame examination of the attack on the Range Rover:

The Jawa Report: Bikers Versus SUV

jcosta79 10-04-2013 02:02 PM

Interesting comment from the Facebook page:

Quote:

As a trucker that would deliver in north jersey and New York I am familiar with these groups. I can hopefully clarify a few things. First the initial "accident" is part of a game they play. They ride in a huge group and will operate together to slow down traffic.

Next they pick out high end vehicles targeting people with families in them, the targets will usually be white or Asian. Then one of the riders will do a "brake check" and stop suddenly in front of the target vehicle causing a minor bump. In some cases they will just roll back into their target vehicle. They will then mob the vehicle demanding money and or begin attacking the person inside. It is their practice to also slash the tires to prevent the vehicle from escaping.

Truckers are well aware of them and are advised not to stop. You can clearly see in the video how they are well practiced in this style of attack. The police in NY have backed off them after an officer ran one down using his vehicle a few months back. The video was all over the net so I advise you to check it out. These "bikers" ride dirt bikes and sport bikes very few of which are street legal and even fewer have plates. They run red lights, stop signs, and have no regard for the law.

If you are ever in this situation do not stop, immediately call the police and do whatever you have to to keep them from boxing you in. NEVER leave the scene of an accident if you are not under direct threat!!! Only run if you have no other choice, and again immediately call the police.

This is not rare by any means, the only reason this incident got any attention is because of the helmet cam video being posted on the net. If you see anyone in this situation, call the police. Make no mistake confusing these punks with true bikers. You will rarely if ever see a member of these gangs on a Harley. Do not for a minute blame true bikers for this kind of behavior. Bikers like those involved in the 2 million Bikers to DC Rally are American Patriots and would be among the first to come to your aid.

A final note, always be aware of motorcycles and share the road. Check your mirrors and don't ride anyone's bumper, motorcycles have a much smaller profile then a car and are harder to see

Cmike2780 10-04-2013 03:15 PM

It get's even more interesting......

Quote:

An off-duty, NYPD undercover officer was among the pack of motorcyclists who chased a Financial District family up the West Side Highway — and he stood by as the dad was hauled from his car and beaten, The Post has learned.

The unidentified narcotics officer only came forward Wednesday night, four days after the caught-on-video biker predation, and is described as a motorcycle hobbyist who rides with First Line Soldiers, a New Rochelle-based group that also counts several other cops among its members, a source said.

Internal Affairs is investigating whether those cops, too, were among the bikers, and whether any of them are also witnesses to the beating that left Internet exec Alexian Lien bleeding on the pavement as his wife and toddler daughter cowered inside their black Range Rover.

“It is does not appear that he got involved at the scene,” one law enforcement source said of the undercover.

“He didn’t want to blow his cover” as an undercover involved in life-threatening duties, the source said.

The undercover has now lawyered up, the source added.

Meanwhile, sources said that cops have developed new photographic evidence showing Lien was physically attacked by as many as five bikers.

None of those bikers are under arrest six days after the incident and only one has been identified by name, one source said.

There is as yet no evidence that suspect biker Reginald Chance, 38, of Brooklyn — depicted in video smashing using his chrome-colored helmet to bash in Lien’s driver’s side window — was among those who beat or slashed Lien, a source said.

Chance, who has also lawyered up, still faces possible charges of gang assault, a source said.

The investigation into the incident is amping up Friday, with prosecutors set to re-interview the couple this afternoon.

Serious question:

For the guy that was clearly caught smashing the driver side window, why does he need to lawyer up?

I read the entire 27 pages of this thread and would like to add my .02 cents;

Red_zed made a lot of valid points, and even though initially it may seem as he is siding with the bikers, after reading the entire argument he is just playing the devils advocate and looking at the case objectively just like the DA will, or at least should.
No questions that the popularity of this case will have some influence on the events that will follow...

It seems like the consensus here is that the RR driver is justified in his actions, and I also concur with this.

A few things that I would like to point out;
1. You can obviously see in the original video 12+ other go-pro's and other cameras on the helmets, it is ironic that all of the cameras do not have the entire footage or how this was initiated.
2. The fact that the OP (biker who posted the video) took down all 7 of the videos of the same gang behaving recklessly on that same day is also another questionable move.
3. 911 call evidence with the RR driver being directed by dispatch to get of the highway to the nearest police station.

just like Red_zed say I would do my best to not get caught in a similar situation, but life happens and some things we can not control.
My only option would be to defend myself and my family, I would also drop the hammer on the bikers in front of me.

I mean what is a better vehicle than the legendary range rover for this type of situation. My rav4 would just get stuck spinning tires or scraping the bikes.

I like what the trucker said except when he preached about how great the Harley's are.
