Hurricane Irene

Who's getting ready for the Hurricane. As of now, it looks like the eye is going to hit right over Queens on Sunday. No garage, so looks like it's time to look for a thick car cover for the Z. Keep safe everyone.

Nick911sc 08-25-2011 01:37 PM

You could always bring your car to one of the parking garages to ensure it's safety during the worst parts of the storm.

ChrisSlicks 08-25-2011 01:40 PM

It's not looking good for NYC. One of the tracks has the storm heading right down Broadway. Only saving grace is that it hopefully wont be a Hurricane anymore by the time it gets there.

toxik 08-25-2011 01:57 PM

im worried :\

travisjb 08-25-2011 03:41 PM

I'm with you guys

My boss had the bright idea to send me up here for the weekend so I could be extra ready for my Monday meeting in Hartford... just arrived... not happy! :(

I have the feeling I will got stuck here, and have no time to prep my race car for an event next week

Pelican170 08-25-2011 03:45 PM

Curious to see what actually comes out of this in the end. As we know, weather men usually suck but looks like we could get slammed... Luckily the Z has a garage to sit in...

Hate to say it, but you could be in trouble...

So sorry Travis.

Although it will be all blown over by Monday and I would say the airports more or less fully operational by Monday night so I think you'll be okay. It would really suck if the cancel the Monday meeting though, to go all that way for nothing.

I'll be at the track Monday and Tuesday in NH, right now it is a little sketchy but I think we'll still be running.

toxik 08-25-2011 04:01 PM

somatic 08-25-2011 04:52 PM

be safe yall

bigaudiofanat 08-25-2011 06:14 PM

Car covers will act like sand paper for ANY dirt on your car I would advice against them.

MARCUSELIOT 08-25-2011 07:13 PM

Yes!! Bring it down.

delusional 08-25-2011 08:11 PM

My Z's staying in the garage but my other car needs a place to hide

I'd rather have something covering the car from any debris flying around. I can buff out swirls.... chips are alot harder to fix.

birdmanx1 08-25-2011 09:20 PM

Not looking good for Philly, New York using the flash interactive tool on this LINK. Probably be safer having cars in garages/underground parking if possible. Hopefully Irene's is not as bad as predicted.

98intrigue 08-25-2011 09:28 PM

Good luck, everyone! It's weird to hear about a large hurrican dodging FL and coming for the NE.

njustidokite 08-25-2011 11:01 PM

All the LI guys should just park around Bald Hill it's the highest point on Long Island. If floods reach there then were all F*ed. You just need someone to drive you back after u park.

Yeah but my thought is that the cover isn't tight/secure enough not to blow around and unnecessarily damage the paint when your talking high powered winds... I'm with the other guy, leave it uncovered... it's not going to stop dents and things of that nature if you get debris and hail anyhow.

I'd def look for a garage... it would be worth the cost to know your atleast partially protected.

chuckd05 08-26-2011 04:39 AM

Im picking up my new car tomorrow and renting a storage unit for a month to park it in for the week while im on vaca... 50 bucks well spent

Smart move. Here's the updated graphic, will likely be hitting NY as a category 1 hurricane.

SophiaZ 08-26-2011 06:38 AM

My Z has a cozy garage to hang out in...BUT since I can nolonger afford the car...I feel responsible to park him at my parents house on the street under a large tree :/ ugh such heart break!

m4a1mustang 08-26-2011 06:48 AM

We are expecting tropical storm conditions here in the DC area, so I'll just put the car in the garage and make sure everything in the yard that might blow away is taken inside.

Hope all you guys and gals bracing for more serious impacts all stay dry and stay safe.

NickBaragona 08-26-2011 08:01 AM

I live in Frederick, MD...with no garage. Should I look into a parking garage?

Lemers 08-26-2011 08:09 AM

Just remember if anything bad happens out of this hurricane, blame it on Bush.

I blame Obama...

Masa 08-26-2011 08:32 AM

Won't matter if I park my Z in the garage or out, if a tree falls ****ed either way. :p

ChrisSlicks 08-26-2011 08:39 AM

Atlantic City Evacuated

Lemers 08-26-2011 08:42 AM

It's only a 3 going into colder water. This is nothing like Katrina being a large 3 going into the warm gulf and going into a 5.

Yup, totally agree. Hurricane Isabel back in 2003 was much worse when it hit the Mid-A area.

chuck, make sure to not park too close to the wall of your car's storage unit, won't be able to get out... and no reverse gear.
