i watched the weather radar at work for about 7 hours today, its loosing strength as we speak and none of the weather stations from the DC/MD/VA area's reported any more than 25-35 knot winds up to 42 knot gusts, which is like 48 mphs, give or take a few. not to mention the news inflates the intensities of the weather they show to get people more hyped up. Its all b.s. its gonna blow right by and everythings gonna go right back to normal. Its gonna be as bad as hurricane earl i think

Well, it is about 1:20am reporting in about 10 miles west of Annapolis. Worst parts of Irene have passed, only light rain from now till 6am. Power didn't even go out in my area. Had some strong gusty winds but no downed trees or branches for that matter. Hope everyone else makes it out lucky like I did.

Looks like the worst is over. A few trees near me are knocked down and a lot of people without power, but it looks like the damage isn't too bad.

Only casualy of Irene in my area, dumb kids in GM pickup truck got stuck in the mud in a cornfield right next to my house at 1AM. Why did they purposely get out of the road in the first place? Only they know. They were wet, pissed off and jumping on the flatbed to give the truck some traction. I had a great laugh when 3 police cars showed up to give them the lesson of the year right from their police cruisers. The truck is still stuck in the mud with 200 feet of tracks when they were trying to get back to the road but couldn't :icon17:

^ Hahaha that is great Bert. Just some leaves on the ground I will have to sweep by later out of my driveway. Other than that didn't even lose power.
This is what comes to mind when I think of Hurricane Irene: http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/422...tiwaslikez.jpg |
:icon18: same reaction here Ron. Glad we lucked out.

Lost power at 10am well before things got serious. Probably won't get it back until tomorrow sometime maybe longer. Hey at least the internet is working for now and I have a generator. Waiting for the stronger winds to hit MA, so far it has just been raining like a MF with the occasional squall. I have a lot of trees in my yard unfortunately. Fortunately I did take down several early this year.
this winds passing us on the island now goin towards you, local news stations are showing some high numbers, but noaa shows way lower, which is who i have always gone by. They arent that horrible. Hopefully it will die down even further before it hits you
Haha got a call from my brother this morning , I'm already I'm puerto Rico waiting for boat to leave and he said for about 3 hours it rained hard like it would when it Downpours for a few minutes normally. With a little extra winds.
I picked up a used 6m sport pkg 135i with an 100k bumper to bumper warranty. Has 46k on it already but drives and feels newer than my Z did. Gonna like it I can tell. Def will upgrade LSD at some point tho. All NE Zs should be fine. |
Yeah power has been out for more than 5 hours now, stats show over 4 million people are without power, and some places got up to 4 feet of water. couple downed trees where I live, but nothing major, and o yeah the Z is safe.

I bought a can of tuna for THIS?????
I bought two cases of beer and an extra bottle of scotch just in case. Nothing too bad, we've had worse in shorter bursts before. Couple of downed trees so I'm still without power probably until the morning.

The ice storm this last winter I lost it for 6 days. In the middle of winter that really sucks, this time of the year not so bad. I'm not going to let it get me down, still headed off to the rack track tomorrow for 2-days of automotive mayhem.
Cool deal man, have fun at the track ;)
Well we definitely lucked out here in NOVA. Just rain and some wind... seems like it stayed more to the west than they initially thought.
i think the storm system affected the weather over here in tx...weve been having a drought, and out of nowhere its pouring here in dallas
Lost electricity saturday... Still no power..

Hurricane Irene in Virginia Beach
Hurricane Irene? What hurricane? People were fine in Virginia Beach. Look at the size of that white suburban
:icon18: I like how at first he's trying to make it seem worse than it is - like he's struggling to stand up right and walk in the winds. Then you see all the people running by with ease lolol. Stupid media hype. :shakes head:
In all honesty, I actually thought there was far more damage than everyone is making it seem. A lot of places had minor damage, but isn't that a good thing? Thousands without power, over 40 people dead and a lot of flooding in the upper North East. This was hardly a near miss. If this hurricane was a "dud" as some would make it seem, I would hate to think what a true cat 2 or cat 3 would do.

40 dead? really? Not saying your wrong but I thought I heard it was only like 5. |
