Car covers will act like sand paper for ANY dirt on your car I would advice against them.

I'd rather have something covering the car from any debris flying around. I can buff out swirls.... chips are alot harder to fix.

Not looking good for Philly, New York using the flash interactive tool on this LINK. Probably be safer having cars in garages/underground parking if possible. Hopefully Irene's is not as bad as predicted.

Good luck, everyone! It's weird to hear about a large hurrican dodging FL and coming for the NE.

All the LI guys should just park around Bald Hill it's the highest point on Long Island. If floods reach there then were all F*ed. You just need someone to drive you back after u park.

Yeah but my thought is that the cover isn't tight/secure enough not to blow around and unnecessarily damage the paint when your talking high powered winds... I'm with the other guy, leave it uncovered... it's not going to stop dents and things of that nature if you get debris and hail anyhow.

I'd def look for a garage... it would be worth the cost to know your atleast partially protected.

Smart move. Here's the updated graphic, will likely be hitting NY as a category 1 hurricane.

My Z has a cozy garage to hang out in...BUT since I can nolonger afford the car...I feel responsible to park him at my parents house on the street under a large tree :/ ugh such heart break!

We are expecting tropical storm conditions here in the DC area, so I'll just put the car in the garage and make sure everything in the yard that might blow away is taken inside.

Hope all you guys and gals bracing for more serious impacts all stay dry and stay safe.

I live in Frederick, MD...with no garage. Should I look into a parking garage?

Just remember if anything bad happens out of this hurricane, blame it on Bush.
