Hoonigan/Larry Chen's take hits it on the head. If you isolate parts of car in view, it looks way better.

I'm still holding my same stance on the front. I'd like the bottom flare to be black altogether but that's obviously impractical to turn it into more a multi-piece bumper in production. But make that flare shaper, or something. It'll help recapture the slimmer appearance of the 240Z's front.

Couldn't agree more with what he's saying here. The new Supra is a good car regardless if it's half BMW, but it still isn't selling that well because of its price. Nissan would be foolish to price the new Z starting above $45k. It wouldn't sell point blank period. Personally I realistically see the starting price being $35k-$40k max.

Basic 4 cyn Z, should be under 30k. Than go from there.

I'll be in my bunk!

Nissan doesn't have a decent 4cyl anymore. The VC-T motor is a hot mess. I've driven a QX50 loaner car a couple of times, hate the motor. Or the trans. Or both. I dunno what it is but it's not impressive.

Also, doesn't the FM platform have a weight issue? And I don't think in USA Z ever came with 4 cyl. Nissan keeps stressing that this is a heritage vehicle. Personally I wouldn't be interested in a Nissan 4 cyl "Z" car.

There's always a BRZ if you wanna scratch that itch.

how about this

The leading speculation has it getting the Infiniti Q60's 300-hp 3.0-liter V6 at launch, with the 565-hp 3.8-liter under the GT-R's hood coming at some later point.

From this autoweek article

now that I might buy, if they do that .....

but its all a waiting game

I am liking this more and more everyday!

I hope they don't add anything to the front-fascia, especially fog lights. It's so nice to see clean side pods next to the grill, kind of like the original R35. Tired of all these holes, grills, lights, and other tidbits that busy up the front of cars.

i'm gonna go with .001% chance they put the GTR engine in the Z.

unless the R36 somehow actually happens AND has the 800hp hybrid setup.

otherwise, they will never make the cars that close in performance.

No marketing department is that dumb. GM made a turbo TA that was faster than that years Vette. They realized how stupid it was and have never done that again.

to that point the only caveat would be is if the GTR was a much lighter vehicle.

the GM example of that is the ZL1 camaro getting a slightly detuned Z06 engine but it is a 500-600lbs heavier vehicle.

you put 565hp in a 3200-3400lb Z that's a whole different animal minus the AWD and DCT that the GTR has.

Back in those days, the GM divisions were very segregated. Pontiac often did crazy stuff, and it wasn't unusual for each division to have several bespoke engine options.

As for the new Z getting the VR38....maybe...if it was detuned. Could you imagine that much HP in a RWD 2 seater? It'd be a widowmaker.

I firmly believe Nissan will stick to the VR30 in multiple states of tune.
