Like everything except that square front. Hopefully they fix that.

Seeing this car at different angles helped reveal a few things. Hips aren't as washed out as I first perceived. I get this is more Z32 and S30 inspired, but I'll miss the exaggeration of the leading edge of our rear wheels wells. This does have a nice transition. It's just different. The rear quarter is so far my favorite segment. I feel like the trailing edge of the front fender/wheel well is missing, though. It's a little too straight looking, but I get again the point that it's trying to capture a different generation of Z than ours. Biggest problem with the nose imo is the grill is too vertical and tall at the same time. Tailights seem too much of a modern retro pony car move. Not bad, but feel like it was just done for token sake. Would've been nice if the plane view of the roof tapered more at the rear. Maybe a little too wide/flat for my tastes. Hard to tell if the "katana" accents and contrast coloring are just making it appear so for now. It's honestly nice. There is some coherent design language but I think much of my underwhelmed impression was just being fixated on imagining going further in same the direction as the Z34. It's just a different direction here. Really only thing I don't like is the grill cutout + angle. I realize I'm a Z34 owner on a Z34 forum, and I do get critical of people just having low self esteem that they're progressing into being a "past generation" and therefore retro grouches....but I am clinging onto how the Z34 had certain exaggerations and apart from roofline, it kinda wasn't following any rules with the lineage and more pushed to be itself. The Nismo V1 will stay a very good looking car for like, ever imo. And I feel like that's the argument against having this upcoming model draw backwards with inspiration: the Z32 was trying to do the opposite - be different. |
I like it. Expect some evolution in the interim. Will be keen to see and test soonest upon release. Im glad very, that Nissan are continuing the line among a sea of boxes with no soul and under utilized trucks that are an eye-sore. Happy to see new sportscars!!!!!! :driving:

If the guesstimates that i’ve read on pricing are correct, I definitely won’t be buying a new one.

The side profile though - that is money - reminds of a Jag coupe but like everyone else here, the front grill and the rear lighting is just 'meh'. I'm hoping after a few years on the market - they will produce a body kit from factory that will really make it look great. The digital dash - makes me wonder if the hydraulic steering is going 'bye bye' but overall - I'm happy.
Do I think this is as good looking as the current Supra - no I don't but....it's what we are asking for - a refresh that is similar to our current Z but offers a twin turbo setup. And like others have said - if it shares a lot of the same parts as the current Z - then this will be a tuners dream and the fact that we are KEEPING a stick along with having an ENGINE that is made from Nissan - there are some pluses here. Regardless I am wondering - HP, price and are we/can we add a spoiler from factory?? |
I like it!
I agree about the rectangular front grill, but it's just a nose cone, so will be easy for different designs to appear from Nissan or aftermarket. Looks almost like a base model to me. I feel like the Infiniti Sports Exhaust on my Q60 would bolt right up to this new Z. As has been said, probably a FM chassis. That's OK by me. Interior is hugely improved. I'm no Nissan "fan-boy", but Nissan just punted Toyota here. Big Time. I mean, heck Nissan made their own car and even put a 6MT in it. I give Nissan respect. Even though they ruined the Gen 2 Titan and use CVTs too much, oh and Brie Larson better not do any ads for the new Z |
All I can say for "me" is IF it stays as close to what were being shown?

I must have the NISMO version please. The original drawing was awesome. It was in the Nissan video on Youtube. It was a matt gray drawing.

I think the front needs a little work including the headlights. So far I'm liking the rear portion. I think it's a "love it" or "hate it" kind of situation in the rear. I kind of like that area and the taillights.
http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1600222693 Side profile gives off 370z vibe. I actually find top half very identical to 370z. The interior is nice. I think I'll be totally fine with it. I'm assuming it's gonna be the SRM 6 speed. The front end is a tough one. I absolutely hate the headlights. The headlights not only look terrible, it makes the whole front end look meh. If Nissan can fix the headlights and revamp the front end, I personally think it's pretty awesome. This B roll is nice: https://flixel.com/cinemagraph/mrdhc...XLGensi2RzrAAg |
Who does a reveal and only talks about design cues and "heritage"? Does not even talk about what enthusuast should look forward to? Ok, they said 6 spd manual but that's it. Didn't even pop the hood. I can tell the designer tried to squeeze the z33 in. Better yet, forced it in. This reveal was a downer.

few things I noticed lots of the same stuff from the 370z door handles, speakers, center arm rest portion, same steering wheel turn signal/light stalks, same or very similar exhaust as the q60/50. Looks like the same brakes as the q60 black edition, same interior light dome as the 370z. Redline is 7000rpm (red sport is 6,800) boost gauge goes to 20psi.

Front end is controversial.
The rear end is unique and kool The side looks amazing. The dash is ehh? The console is nice... Thank God they left the gauges Thank God for handbrake! Those wheels are sick. That roofline is dopeness. Hoping hips are added to Nismo! Hoping for better looking mirrors. Hoping they redesign the front end. I dunno how I feel about the headlights. Can't wait to test drive!!! |
