Default Hood latch broken due to heavier hood?

I have the seibon vsii wet carbon hood installed and as some of us know this hood weighs more than our oem hood(by about 6.5lbs) . My latch has now given out I'm assuming from the extra weight. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you remedy it? Currently the hood is popped but will not latch again. I've tried what I could to fix it but at this point I don't think I'm going to be able to fix it myself and even if the dealership fixes it I'll still be in the same situation if and when it happens again. Anyone?
Ps hood pins are a last resort as I am not a fan.

My guess is that the hinges were not properly aligned when re-installed and they were in a bind. I doubt that the extra few pounds is the problem. YMMV

That sounds about right, thanks again southark you always have good info. I'll definitely have the dealership look into that when I drop it off
