Reading comprehension seems to be declining across the board at an alarming rate. This little story amused me.

Every 6 months I visit the dealer for an oil change (Sched 2). I bring my 5qt jug of Penn Ultra 5/30, instruct them to use my oil, and even grab a sample for blackstone. I have done this 5 times now, same dealer. One of the writers even remembers me.

After 80 minutes yesterday of express service (first sign of trouble), and confirming verbally with the tech I wanted a sample of the used oil, and not the new oil (huh? I want you to sample my new oil? I can't fill a container?)

I had to then adjust the bill on checkout. It showed 6 qt of 5/30 oil for 16 or so. Comments on the service request had at the top: use customer supplied oil.

Honest mistake, no biggie.

Drive home and what do I find in the passenger footwell when I pull into the garage? Yup...a 5/30 jug of unopened Penn Ultra. It started life up right on the seat.

I visit the dealer under warranty to show them a bit of love and lets face it, oil changes don't break the bank. Looks like I will be doing this one in the sanctity of my garage. No point in going back, I spend more on gas. I feel a tad bad about wasting the 5/30 but to the recycling plat it will go.

I know oil changes are usually done but lower level $20/hr folks, not master techs but come on people: read. Read. Read.

Next spring I will be *very* specific with the service writer. Maybe use balloons for the tech to notice the oil I provided.
