that's my plan! I'm on hold with the dealer right now to get the part.

I'm glad Nissan is finally dealing with this!

Just dropped mine off to be fixed in the morning. Now I won't be scared whenever I am more than 5 miles away from my house.

Good point. It's like replacing an old time bomb with a new one which set the timer little bit back in the future...

We haven't read much faulty on RevDs just because it's the newest and haven't had enough time to prove them good or bad. But I am sure I already read somewhere the RevD failed too. And please think... There must be a reason for Nissan giving up using the SLU on the newest models!

While it's good to have this recall, maybe we should have a new poll for people encountered SLU failure AFTER replacing with the new unit.

The part is in stock.. I'll be replacing tomorrow (then pulling fuse again lol). I'm mainly doing this for resale in case I need to revert to "stock" someday. Also as punishment to Nissan for using such a crappy part and taking so darned long on a recall.

I have a Rev D and my car is not part of the recall. But I know of several forum members who had their ESCL fail once, got it replaced with Rev D and then had it fail yet again I'm not risking it; my fuse was pulled months ago...

These post speak to what I was thinking.
It is a hassle. Then I pull the fuse again. How am I ahead?
Bragging rights, it is free and might be worth more (do not really care about either).
Make Nissan pay.

I am still deciding what to do. Currently all is well with pulled fuse.

Dropped the car off this morning. They just called me back a few minutes ago to tell me the tech is working on it as we speak. 39k miles on the odometer and they also highly recommend a coolant flush, brake flush and a new cabin air filter which is supposedly really, really dirty......in my '09 Z......which I'm pretty sure didn't come with one

They also saw my new tires and recommended an alignment. I can understand if they were the ones to install it, but how the f*** can you tell a car needs an alignment with brand new tires installed? They didn't even drive it as far as I know and it's not pulling left or right.

He almost had me until he said new cabin filter....sneaky bastards. Is wanting not getting scammed into unneccessary work when you come in for a recall too much to ask?

'09s did not come with a cabin air filter. There is a slot in the air handler for one, but the factory didn't install them. I had one installed in my '09 (lots of pollen this time of year).

That's exactly what I thought...so how can it be "really, really dirty"?

I've been meaning to put one in, but got lazy. I can't imagine they would have put one in for free in the past without knowing about it. Does the Nissan OEM cabin air filter available for later models fit right in or do I need to modify or go aftermarket?

From what I've read, Nissan/Infiniti use the same air handler in several models so the filter should be easy to find. No mods required if you get the proper filter element. If you want to put one in yourself, there is at least one DIY on this site (looks like an easy job once you get the glovebox out). The filters come with or without activated carbon. IIRC, several companies make the filter so you don't have to spend extra for that Nissan sticker.

I believe the OEM one first, I think there is a DIY thread of someone taking a 09 and putting one in.
Also, my dealership is checking if they have any in stock for the steering lock, hoping to get it fixed this weekend.

I've been riding the bus for more than a month because I refused to pay for a new shitty part. I just called Nissan of the Eastside and they're going to replace my part today! After which I plan on pulling the fuse, standing on my hood and shouting to my neighbors "FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OM!"

Picked up car today - had to pay 1 hours labour (£96) as Nissan UK aren't recalling at moment. Better than nothing but if they do recall will look for a refund on the labour.

On a totally different note I'm coming to San Francisco next month, could anyone recommend any good restaurants?
