I dont believe a larger oil filter is nec better. Use standard size purglolator.

Long story short: After reviewing the used oil analyses (UOA's) on my Z and those of others using various oils for daily driven stop-and-go VQ engines, I concluded around 4.25 - 4.5K was about ideal. Earlier changes suggested no benefits and later intervals pointed to very slight upticks in wear.

I think that value range is also roughly at the median of Nissan's two recommended intervals, which I'm guessing is unlikely to be a coincidence.

All that in mind, a few hundred miles up or down will not make a difference of note.

my Z has about 15k miles and 5th year... so about 3k miles a year. which is a once a year change for me.

Yeah, I'm a 3700-3500 kinda guy. I just change it to be able to mess with it! I live 3-4 miles from work so......in FL heat stop and go I fall into the severe category, although I always get up to 180 before I get to work....

[QUOTE= ... On newly installed engines Nissan recommends you forcefully pump one quart of oil into the filling hole, then turn the car on ASAP.

Wouldn't that only prelube the left cylinder bank's valvetrain?
