Question on Warrant paint repair

I have come clearcoat flaking off the hood and a few spots where it looks like bird crap etched the paint (actually, several spots). The local dealer had me go to their preferred body shop (decent enough reputation) and they gave me a quote which I handed to the dealer's Service advisor. This is how that went...
Him- "This is pretty high. Looks like they're including blending the panels. Nissan doesn't pay to blend. They only paint the affected panels"
me - "Then how can the paint blend or match up?"
Him - "We can't guarantee it will match the other panels"
he adds - "It will never look as good as new"
Now I just quit arguing and contacted Nissan customer support since he had the go ahead from Nissan to do the painting. Nissan stated that the paint will be restored to "as new" condition and if I have any issues that I can contact them if I don't get the help I need from the dealer.

My question...Is this guy full of crap or is it just a really bad idea to have the paint fixed?
