Default A guy rear-ended me/ whats the avg cost of repair?

Yesterday, while going to work, an old man in a POS toyota truck rear-ended me. i was slowing down for the car in front of me and he was only doing about 10 MPH. When i looked at the damaged, there are only a couple of stress marks and a few scrapes on my bumper. I was amazed at how well the car took the hit. His front grill/bumper was left with a 370Z bumper imprint and he cracked his radiator.

I'm just trying to figure out an average cost before the insurance company tries to give me a check for nothing. I knw the bumper will have to be resprayed/fixed, the energy materials replaced, and maybe the interior support. Just wondering if anyone had an idea about cost. I'll post a pic in a min or two.

Not sure but don't let them get away with after market parts. Insist on OEM parts only. I am not sure if you can do this anymore but it never hurts to try. If not you can probably take it to a Nissan dealer that has a auto body shop you might have better luck getting OEM parts.

Nice to know though the car took the impact well. Sorry to hear and happy no one was hurt.

Pic's?

Sucks man, glad no one was hurt. They will probably give you a new rear bumper and replace other stuff from back there too. I don't know if it helps or not, but the cost for a new FRONT bumper + install + paint was like $700-800 when I got an estimate for mine.

If the other insurance company is paying for it, just get a new one

I would replace.... those tiny fractures suck and is a pain to fix..... you know it just spreads.... I had that 6 months ago and now it's half the bumper....

i was rear ended tuesday, if only my rear bumper, ended up looking like yours.

I've yet to get a repair estimate, but your numbers will be very helpful, and I greatly appreciate you sharing them.

Thanks.

wow, sorry bout ur car- i just got done with the insurance adjustor- he quoted 582- to fix the bumper. they won't pay to replace it since there are no holes/cracks. they also dont include the "energy absorber" ie styrofoam underneath which is around 70. which WILL have to be replaced... i'm going to fight for a new bumper- i don't want 10 layers of paint on my rear bumper (its already been resprayed before i took delivery on it)

they also don't quote anything they can't see underneath..
